So you have to take basic classes like history and shyt?

yup.. basic Gen. Ed requirements: SAS, Intro to Comp, Communications, Psch, English/Writing, Math and Humanities.. you dont even get in the kitchen until you do that, then you still gotta do alot of other required classes before you even start cooking.. :skip:

it depends on where you go to school.. i dont go to a Culinary School.. i go to a college, but their Culinary program is ranked high in the nation.. if you have some Gen Ed credit hours, Im sure they can be applied toward Culinary if you choose and if thats how the program is set-up where you go..

pretty much what I ended up doing.. always been into cooking, and wanted to go back to college after i took a few years off my prior career- so I basically killed two birds w/one stone..

Even though this is not quite Culinary School, but try going around some small business restaurants and see if you can work for free. Basically come there early, ask for the manager and tell them that you'll be willing work for free in exchange of learning how to cook in a restaurant. Do that for like a couple of months, maybe a year, be ultra responsible(15 minutes early, dependable) and you'll probably be able to put them down as a legit refrence when applying for restaurants. Hell, you might land a cooking job at that restaurant or get connections for catering. I'm not saying this is a surefire way to get on, but I'd try that first before dropping 30k for school.
