Lets be 100 here. He doesn't need to sign to any label. If I were him I'd hook up with Irv Gotti and go independent or deal with the situation Irv got with Lyor. He doesn't need a label behind him he's going to move the same amount he has a loyal fan base.

That same loyal fanbase screaming classic but wont buy the album right?:lolbron:

I know Duck Down might seem like a step down because it's not a major but I understand the feelings behind the idea. I think Nas should test the independent market with one album, maybe lost tapes 2 and see what it's like. Being independent means you have to hustle more and Nas is kind of lazy so I don't think he'll like it.

I'd rather see Nas go on E1, RED, or ADA before I would see him on Duck Down because those dudes can't promote beyond the street corner.

I'll even throw in Downtown Recordings on that list for a label that Nas can go to.

Even though i would hope by now that Nas wouldn't have to resort to signing to someone elses label i could see sigining to GOOD music or MMG as a good deal for him. At this point Nas is established and is gonna move what he's gonna move. I just want him with the best possible label as far as giving him the best beats and creativity as an artist.

Imagine if Nas had a verse on this song instead of Yayo :ohlawd: :ohlawd:

Although LL was disappointing on this track, the way dude was whining about Jay not promoting his album :beli:

Nas & LL need to collab on a track some day :ohlawd:

Nas is going to be in a very interesting position when he becomes a free agent. Love him or hate him he still moves more records than most guys out right now, so you better believe he will be in demand. Nas has made the right connections throughout the years, two of his go to producers are in high positions; No ID is executive-vice president of def jam and Salam Remi is executive VP of A&R at Sony. Now the question is does Nas go the independent route like some of you are saying or does he play it safe and resign with a major label.

Lol at me staring to read this shyt and stop cuz I'm drunk

He should stay with Def Jam....

Why go to any other major label? Atlantic sucks, Universal is the home of Wayne, Birdman, Drake and the "whatever's hot at the moment" movement and didn't promote Distant Relatives AT ALL. He's already been on Sony (and as stated on HHID he's not going back) With Def Jam he's three number 1 albums deep, 2 have gone gold and LIG will follow, several Grammy nominations, and an Emmy award win. Def Jam pretty much has allowed Nas to be the artist he wants to be (aside from the Lost Tapes 2 fiasco:sadbron:) why not stick with them?

Going independent for an artist of Nas's stature isn't really necessary. His last deal netted him him $10 million, he tours (co-owns Guerrilla Union which does Rock The Bells) has endorsements (Fila, Gap, etc.) the whole nine. Don't allow the fact that he's knee deep in tax debt obscure the fact that he's paid, he'd only OWE that much if he WAS paid.

As far as sub-labels and imprints. NONE of those labels have what it takes to sign a legend like Nas. MMG, Young Money, Cash Money, NONE of them could sniff his boots. The ONLY label that would even seem to be a fit musically and professionally would be GOOD Music, and on Def Jam he already has access to Kanye West/NO I.D. Beats if he wants them. Damn near ANY producer in the game would give their left nut to be on a Nas album. No imprint could do him justice....
