How long has LeBron been the best player in the NBA? I still argue that he was the best since his second season, but I can hear cases for Kobe or Duncan as well. Shaq was already starting to break down a in 2003-2004...so I think LeBron has the edge over him even so early on in his career.

But to answer your question, strangely enough I'd say when he joined the heats. The talent around him plus the high stakes situation he put himself in by leaving for Miami/championship expectations helped to make his game grow more. He was already a special player before, but that heats run helped him blossom. In hindsight, it was a great decision on his part.
