Nobody is getting the terms confused. We know the difference.
However, Pedophilia is commonly used by the general public as a "catchall" to describe any type of attractions to those under the age of consent.

That wasn't really the point. Folks are commending Timbaland, and rightfully so, for not acting out on his attractions.
Because he did not "act", folks are rationalizing that he is not a "pedo" or "ephebo", when, in fact, he is, because those by definition are attractions not acts.
To act on those attractions, it then becomes molestation and rape.
There is a cognitive dissonance in this thread because many of the posters appear to be/have been attracted to kids in their late teens but they would never ever consider themselves pedos or ephebos because they feel these things are acts, when they are not, they are attractions.
