yeah i was aware since its inception, the chick, frannie kelley, has been with NPR since the mid 2000’s and she really brought NPR into the 21st century as far as their coverage of hip hop. she started as a journalist over there, doing writing, radio pieces etc. but then they got a hip hop streaming service and called it Microphone Check, and they play rap music of every generation, every region, no bias. and then she and ali shaheed hooked up to do the podcast. lowkey its been one of my favorites for a while. no bias like i said, no hangups, not bs media agenda, just tryna get at what created the artist and how they came about and how they make their music and a bit of life story as well.
