since when are cam & jada b-list? yea, if youre a valley girl.

and cam NEVER got high ratings in the source. i dont think fab did either. not sure about jada. he may have got a 4 at best.

and you know, you dont have to threaten busta for a verse. he'll force his way onto YOUR tracks.

When I said B/C list rappers, I meant in fame wise, not in skill level. We both know better than that. Benzino straight up extorted people to do shyt or else he makes them look bad on their bible. There was no blog sites back in the late 90s/ early 00s, so The Source was the main info for people to get their Hip Hop news from. That "Bootee" remix is a prime example.

Busta Bus wasn't going to get shytted on. Benzino couldn't say shyt about him when he went to Aftermath.

True he isn't, he's worse. I don't believe they are on record calling black people ******s, saying blacks only want your money, and black girls are bytches. Not to mention all the unreleased tapes and the subtle or not so subtle shyt in his music.

He is a culture vulture really, he was using the culture for his own purposes, that doesn't mean he doesn't like rap music though.

"I'm not in to that ****** shyt, I'm here to make a bigger hit"

What does that suggest? I'm not here to do these ****** things, I'm here to do bigger things than them cause I'm better than these ******s. And that's exactly what he did in his mind.

The apology was insincere and a disgrace, his response was all girls are bytches and he completely deflected the issue. For him to say he was only talking about girls is straight up completely fictitious. Even if he was that would be bad enough, but he was talking about the whole black race. And other races too in the unreleased ones.

The Source was supposed to be about the culture, so it makes sense that would be in there. It's pretty much a public duty to expose that. Other point makes no sense, he's making money off black people, why would he disassociate?. There's not really much that's happened after which would really dictate he truly sincerely loves black people either. The only thing that's on record is him calling black people ******s. And making 5 min songs dissing black people and black women specifically.

Insulting Russell Simmons isn't a crime, Russell Simmons deserves criticism.

You fukking get it.

That's it...

Sounds like you been listening to Eminem too much. Benzino wasn't extorting everyone he's worked with. If you think that you MUST think Benzino is the most gangster Hip Hop artist of all time as he's worked with 2 Pac, Mobb Deep, Bumpy Knuckles, Scarface, The Lox, Faith Evans, The Outlawz, Snoop Dogg, Pink, Foxy Brown, Black Rob, Bobby Brown, Cormega, Raekwon, Trackmasters, Wyclef, Lil Kim, Mario Winans, Lisa Raye, Black Child, Fatal Hussein, Daz, Petey Pablo, Ja Rule, Rick Ross, Big Pun, Master P, Montell Jordan, Mase, Queen Pen, Kurupt, Tray Dee, M.O.P, 8 Ball & MJG, Cocoa Brovaz, Krayzie Bone and many more.

He was at Scarface's show the other day rocking with him. Him and Ja Rule are very close friends.

Don't know what the bit about can't take Benzino seriously as a Hip Hop fan means either, his first release came out in around 1986.

Zino almost got killed by Freddie Foxx for acting like a fool too damn much. Ruff Ryders jumped his ass for talking too much shyt. Zino been an a$$hole and extorts people to get what he wants. He wants to take down the machine, but acts just like it when he wants shyt his way.

Ruff Ryders thing was just in an Eminem song, it didn't go like that at all. The Freddie Foxx thing a neutral party said didn't happen quite like that either, but even if it did then they were cool after and worked together numerous times after. I don't remember Zino extorting anyone personally. Don't even really want to defend him cause the shyt he's doing now is straight trash lol, and embarrassing, but he was a street dude.

Street dudes aren't given a pass for fukkery simply cause he put in work in the past. Hip Hop needs to outgrown negativity from the streets and expand mentally, not just financially.

Nah, I agree with that. At the moment I would be critical of the music Zino is making, it's trash and backwards, man is coming up in age and making dumb kiddy music. It's ridiculous, he should have grown up by now. But partly what I meant was, he was in responsible for a gang truce and helped lower the murder rate in his city, that I DO respect and that can't be taken away either.

A lot of artists didn't say anything because the Interscope machine was HUGE at the time. If Em didn't have 50 or Dre in his corner it would've been a wrap. But being that 50 and Em were at their peak at this time it just wouldn't have been smart. Especially after seeing how 50 did Ja. Nobody wanted them problems.

I don't think it was about him not being the guy that people wanted. I think it was more so about The Source being used to expose Eminem. Personally, I think exposing Eminem was a bigger deal than the Source being used a tool. The thing is a lot of people respected the magazine and when that whole thing popped off The Source lost what was left of its credibility.

Benzino deserves credit because he went against an entire machine. It wasn't just about Eminem. It was about Interscope (and other higher ups in the industry), O'Reilly (and anybody that was attacking Hip Hop at that time). He also went at most of (if not all of the rappers) who sided with Eminem during the beef. It wasn't done on wax, but the magazine had articles that dissected some of the rappers who sided with Eminem.

Eminem escaped unscathed at the time because of two key factors:

1) Dr. Dre. People rationalized that if Eminem was a racist, Dre wouldn't have anything to do with him.

2) The whole thing popped off just as 50 Cent mania was full force.

Straight out the fukkin' dungeons of rap

yes perhaps back in high school he felt that way..like i said, where's the evidence that he felt the same way AFTERWARDS? or at least when he grew up and his rap career began taking off?

you can analyze what he said on that tape all you want. was the tape a mistake and a bad look? Of course! doesnt change exactly what he did after.

The apology was insincere and a disgrace, his response was all girls are bytches and he completely deflected the issue. For him to say he was only talking about girls is straight up completely fictitious. Even if he was that would be bad enough, but he was talking about the whole black race. He said "I singled out a whole race, and for that I apologize." He admitted that shyt was racist and apologized. Stop taking the tongue-in-cheek reference afterwards that seriously

They were allegedly sitting on the tapes for a while. Shoulda been exposed earlier if it was REALLY for the culture and yet it just so happened that it was released at the time a certain co-owner was beefing with Em..hmmm...

Other point makes no sense, he's making money off black people, why would he disassociate?. There's not really much that's happened after which would really dictate he truly sincerely loves black people either.
well i mean, his best friend who passed away was black and he obviously became a wreck after it

Mr. Porter was also Em's friend from back in the days and had input on Infinite.

That's just the people he met before his mainstream debut

how much more sincerity do you need?

Insulting Russell Simmons isn't a crime, Russell Simmons deserves criticism.

No one who's really "for the culture" is gonna try to insult Russell Simmons of all people simply because he didn't want to get involved with that beef. Or force someone to lower ratings on a non-"Interscope machine" album simply because it was too high.

That's all im gonna say on this

I was a kid at the time...but Benzino always came off as corny to me which is why I was clowning him so much at the time. Even though I was never a fan, I knew who Eminem was and that he made a few songs I liked and respected.

Benzino on the other hand was introduced to me on a crappy, low-budget BET Uncut video where he was partying and drinking champagne underwater. Based off of the credibility of their music alone I was moreso laughing at Benzino than I was riding with Em.

I was also racially asleep at the time as per the effects of propaganda and indoctrination. I didn't quite become 'conscious' until I was sixteen and read Malcolm X.

And just like Al Haymon said, Benzino to this day carries himself kind of like a clown and a sucka. Anybody who gets his known ratchet turned wife tattooed on his body is a weirdo and definitely a simp.
