NX will be similar to the XB1, not more powerful than the PS4

After speaking to seven different people this week, I can say with confidence that this is false. NX is not using x86 architecture like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The NX has special, custom-made chips and the overall design of the hardware is very modern. The chips are industry leading because they are very modern chips, but having modern chips doesn’t necessarily mean Nintendo is aiming to create the most powerful hardware on the market. Furthermore, any NX rumors on “Polaris chips” and “Polaris architecture” are all wacky. There’s a good reason why those rumors are wacky.

In terms of raw power, numerous sources tell me that NX is much closer to Xbox One than PlayStation 4. Even that might be stretching it a tiny bit. Anyone who is claiming that NX is “two times the power of PS4 GPU” is being misled by their sources. Based on what I’ve heard, I don’t believe the NX will compete directly with PS4 (Neo) / PS4K in raw power.

There will be plenty of debates over the NX’s specs because it’s not simple to directly compare two apples (with x86 architecture) to an orange (that doesn’t use x86 architecture). But everything that I’ve heard (so far) indicates that NX isn’t going to blow away any of the consoles on the market today…except for Wii U.

So about NX…

Not using X86 is not a wise move. They will pretty much have to sell equivalent to at least what Microsoft is doing in order to attract many 3rd parties.

Can't go in with an architecture people have abandoned, not have strong sales and expect 3rd parties to hop on board.

Nintendo, WTF man. It's like they want to go the opposite route just for the sake of being different these days. Stick to what the industry is moving on to and develop dope ass games...wtf is all this bullshyt. The Wii U SHOULD have been a success damnit, I love that damn controller.

Hmm, maybe you have not gone through the post nut clarity after first playing UC4 yet.

The NX should be interesting.
I just as of now, lost interest in the NX until I see it revealed with concrete info. I'm just expecting a Wii U 2 or something. They'll probably cut corners and not have something standard in the console like a frigging usb port or something. :smh:

I am assuming they will try to launch with a 128GB SSD as they cost about the same as a 500GB HDD. Non-Removable of course. That would be my guess right now.

The Wii U should have been a solid console for Nintendo, but they dumbfukked it naming it the damn Wii U.

Casuals: Is it a controller for my Wii? But I play on my iPhone now :lupe:

Core Gamers: Wii U? A new system as a follow up to the Wii? The Wii was trash

I seriously don't understand how they managed to do something as stupid as that. I mean.. the "Is it a controller for the Wii?" was what a lot of people I personally knew thought.

Many folks didn't even know it was a new system. Hell, the actual system looked just like a Wii to make it worse. I guess they thought it'd be a NES to SNES situation and it'd be common sense.

The problem with Nintendo is right at the top. They are a very conservative in the way they think, but it just doesn't work for the most part in getting a mass market share anymore.

We sit here and talk shyt about them, but they do still make money. I guess at the end of the day that is all that matters, but I just wish they would at least accept some of the internal standards that the industry has set. I don't care what controller scheme you come up with. At least make the internal hardware somewhat comparable to what is out there to give it a shot at gaining a lot of the 3rd parties back.

fixed....the wii had gems... at least as much quality exclusives as the 360/ps3 if not more since every game was pretty much exclusive.

Nah, objectively the XBOX 360 is a top 3 console of all time for all that it did + some of their first party stuff. The PS3 is known for their great exclusives as well.

If I remember correctly the 360 has 2x the amount of great games rated 90+ or better than the Wii and the PS3 has 3x the amount in that same range. The exclusives get a little closer on the 360 vs Wii side of things, but still a considerable advantage to the 360. Sports (PS3) and Racing (XBOX) games matter too.

Even if you lower the bar to 80 that number does not favor the Wii in anyway. I am not going to lie to you and just be up front about it. I hated the Wii, it's probably my most frustrating tech purchase of all time. I consider it a turd. I am not even getting into the online capabilities of the system...it was laughable how bad it was. I am just happy we are finally moving on from the Wii era for Nintendo...it was terrible.
