I can see that. Do they even have much else in the main event scene other than Oba and Trick? Seems like not many others are built up & stay on that level. All the challengers like Thorpe, Borne, & others seem to just fall back down the card after losing the random title match. Just used to fill the ple card. I like Jasper. Let's see if they keep building him up for a potential run.

They are building up Jasper atm

Maybe they might start with Tavion if he wins next week and flies solo.

That's what NXT is for. To try new things. They've had phases like this plenty times before in the past.
