Roman only had 3 solo NXT TV appearances before he left for the main roster as part of the Shield. He came back a few times with The Shield in 2013. If he did show up this year it would be 11 years since his last appearance.

Edit: I went back and watched all those matches. The first Shield match the crowd started chanting "We Believe." I had to do a double take, I thought Joe Hendry was going to show up... in 2013.
