I got a couple friends that do this.They dudes though.

I always be wondering what they get out of it.Are they trying to look cool?Is it a status symbol thing like you know life is good if you can pull up to the store and go in while your car running?It feels like it's some kinda weird sickness to me.

Anyway it's a strange phenomena.

That’s crazy though man smh. I don’t trust nobody, I’m locking my car up in the bad areas and the best areas of the city. You can get got anywhere. I don’t feel like going through the aftermath of getting your whole car stolen.

That's just not true. Countries like Japan, South Korea etc are extremely safe. You can leave your car running 24 hours in Tokyo and it won't get stolen. Typically the countries that this can be allowed in are extremely homogenous.
