How long has it been like this brehs?

How did it come to this?

Why is this kind of fukkery allowed? Why haven't NY rappers pulled its card?

Serious questions...been listening to this shyt like :mindblown: How you not put on rappers from your own city?
It's been like this since after Ether. After Ether, Hot 97 did'nt want to get blamed for any Hip Hop related violence or street beef so if you recall, when 50 was up there dissing Kim and a whole bunch of people (I heard Irv tried to sign Shyne so I ain't got no love for him, tell em 50 said he soft and won't shoot up the club again) Flex pulled the plug on it real quick. And then Game's homie getting shot was basically the last straw. They'll do whatever they need to do to get ratings but once it gets to a certain point, they're gonna pull back because they don't want the finger pointed at them.

Hot 97 has become SUPER corporate....they play the same 8-10 songs with a little R&B mixed it to maintain their female demographics and that's it. They don't bump NY artists and they don't play good music.

I remember being in JHS and if you were'nt listening to Hot 97 you were a fukking LAME because that's where ALL the hot music was and it was'nt no down south people getting burn except for Outkast. NONE.

NY Rappers won't pull their card because they' CAN'T. Both the Hip Hop stations in NYC are corporate toys now and NY rappers still have to maintain their friendships in order to get their record spins. And that's sad because those spins don't happen til like 1 AM in the morning when no one is fukking listening to the radio ANYWAYS.

nikkas in the west still killing each other over colors :russ:

When Young Jeezy blew up exactly a decade ago. That was when the 808s southern shyt took over and brehs were too scared to speak up because they wanted bytches to shake their asses in the club to simp to. :francis:
this part i'd give more props to the Ying Yang Twins and Lil Jon than Jeezy breh, THEY were the ones pumping out all the club hits

Jeezy was spittin that pure uncut

as far as east coast rappers go it seems like most of em only made that move after they got too old for all the beef/crab in a barrel mentality shyt they had going on up there

i can't blame em for that :manny:

i don't listen to the radio for music. when i have to it's the local classic rock station or the classic hip hop rnb station. based on what i've seen online(mostly video interviews) the only person who supports any kind of actual new new york shyt is that obnoxious dude rosenberg. the only time actual hiphop gets played is late night shyt?
there are plenty of younger movements moving in ny (bodega bamz, flatbush zombies, underachievers, asap, pro era, worlds fair, bronson, smoke dza's dude's, dave east, sha hef, and out in nj retch and dash) that don't seem to get played on the radio. i played hot97 for 30 minutes yesterday and heard fetty wap or future mostly. i find flex to be a cornball but i always thought this dude's radio show mixed in good shyt with new shyt and some bad shyt. i assumed he was the go to dude for freestyles and ny hiphop. it was a far cry from yelling and dropping bombs on ante up. you'd think he'd at least take the opportunity to play a legit mix since so many were listening?

That has nothing to do with Hot 97's refusal to play west coast music back in the day. You can't rewrite history breh.

on point, but IMO HOT 97 slipped after biggie died, that was the real moment when it all changed at that place.

they rode the puff daddy wave and then it was over like mid 99 or so.
