I love the diversity of everything, the energy, the public transit, the food, the nightlife, the architecture, the women, etc. There are so many different ethnicities, you can even find obscure (in the US) types of food like Tibetan and Senegalese.

It's so convenient, depending on where you live, you can walk out your door and have a bunch of different restaurants, stores, bars, etc. within a short walk.

I also love prewar apartment buildings and rowhomes, that's part of what gives neighborhoods that real city vibe.

Oh and I love street art. A good thing about the hipster neighborhoods is that they let graffiti rock.

I see way less graffiti in most of the city than 10 years ago (I miss the way the Bronx used to look in that regard), but that shyt is alive in Bushwick and there are both murals and unauthorized graffiti.

I hate it when people complain about us being too touristy . You are aware there's 5 boroughs right?

Also, nothing better than convenient locations that are close and always open if you need it. All types of cultures and foods can be all on one block

The tourists aren't even overwhelming unless you're in Midtown Manhattan. Which is an area a lot of New Yorkers avoid when possible

The Lifestyle and culture....the food. Go anywhere at anytime...always something to or get into; not feeling restricted. Cultural events, it's thenergy, a feeling that you cant get anywhere else- Never replicated. The opportunities to be involved in your community. Provided me with book smarts and street sense so that no matter where I go, that foundation is always there. Confidence in my abilities to navigate around different situations, look those situations from a broad perspective. Not having tunnel vision or feeling that I'm closed off from a realistic view of society.
