nikka are you serious the reason the Knicks couldn't get free agents in 2010 was, because they were one of the worst run franchises in all of professional fukking sports. The reason Lebron went to Miami is, because it meant he could take a pay cut without losing that much due to lower taxes and he had faith in Riley's ability to build a team around him, not to mention the fact that he could team with Wade and Bosh. Also at people not wanting to play in New York, because of fans, the team with arguably the most obnoxious fanbase the Yankees is one of the premiere destination for free agents.

When the yankees started bubbling, they still had to overpay for free agents. You would think a team that has been almost a guaranteed division winner, and world series contender would have players taking paycuts to play for them. Yankees have always had to outbid and pay beyond top dollar, even as winner.

Knicks had cleared the dead roster spots and had a fresh team and coach to play for...but who would really want to play for such a disloyal and disrespectful fan base? its only common sense. If you want to play defensive and act like im lying and making all this up, then thats on you. NY fans dish it out, but cant take it.

Players didn't turn down the Yankees in the early '90s because it was NY. They turned down the Yankees because the team had been wack for years and literally had to build from the ground up without Steinbrenner to get things in order. 20 years later they're still eating from those young signings. Their highest paid player was Danny Tartabull. Once the Boss went into exile he ordered the team to freeze everything and just worry about the minors.

Who did they overpay? They kept the guys they already had. It wasn't until they got that cable money that they just went apeshyt with the dough, and remember, the Yankees weren't the first squad to go nuts with money. Colorado, Cincinnati, Texas, Boston, all spent before the Yankees went in for Giambi. There was no such thing at the time as being a big time player and "taking less" because salaries were going up everywhere to where they are now.

Yeah nikkas was probably as fukk like I wish I could be employed by one of the most incompetent owners in all of sports, play with Jamal Crawford, and be coached by Antoni if only it weren't in New York. Also am I being defensive you said something I disagreed with you so I simply commented, its whatever.

Edit: Also CP3 and Dwight Howard tried to get traded to New York basketball teams for whatever that's worth.
