New Edition pre dates New Jack Swing and Teddy Riley......
I think groups like New Edition and The Force M.D.'s incorporated rapping into their music but it
wasn't exactly new by the time they were doing it for example : Fantastic Voyage dropped in 1980 and the single
features rapping from the band members and Marvin Gaye's "Ego Tripping" had dropped way in 1979 and features
Marvin spitting a brag laden verse.

I think by the time New Edition and The Force M.D.'s were doing their thing Hip-Hop/Rap had already begun to bubble to the surface
and get incorporated into R&B music.

And I could be wrong here but I don't think "Hip-Hop" proper was incorporated into R&B until Teddy Riley came along with New Jack Swing.

By the way, I think this is a dope chance for brehs to converse and drop knowledge. So if someone has information that runs
counter to mines, I won't argue.

Yeah
Drizzy does his city's artists dirty. Gives them a cosign but in reality just looking to steal content from them.

Did it to The Weeknd, PND, Majid Jordan and now he's doing the same to Safe.

Abel smart though he didn't wanna be an underboss, got his own lane.
Tiller didn't sign with ovo he's with rca

I was trying to say that Drizzy cosigned Tiller who is similar to PND. Why co-sign a similar artist, when you got PND signed to YOUR label. Makes zero sense. Unless Drizzy is ready to dump PND and ride the wave of Tiller, like he did with Migos and Future.

Wrong..

It's Michael Bivins..
Puffy brought HipHop into RnB. aka Rap influenced by RnB.

RnB with a hiphop edge was brought on, at various times, by:

1. Michael Bivins

2. Devante Swing

3. Timbaland

4. R.Kelly

5. The Dream

6. The Weeknd.

7. PND
Teddy Riley would like a word with you.

:yeshrug:

im not gonna even front like dat... mike biv & ted rilz should get credit too
but thats about it !
so i take back part of my original statement of the 'there only 1....'

but lets keep it "100" -puff was the brainchild for mary j & jodeci
this was the pinnacle of this merger, it lead n changed the urban music forever thereafter

thats fact - and since :takedat: was the brainchild... he deserves to be the face of this

You need to go outside breh. Every bytch from the age of 15-30 is n love with this dudes mixtape. 2016 So Far Gone.
The artistic sensibilities of Black women aged 15-50 has us in a space where Tyler Perry is the biggest movie star in our community and has made the House Wives of Atlanta millionaires..

I love my sisters...But 2016 needs to be the year where real n1ggas stop caring about what these chicks think when it comes to artistic tastes....

Maybe we should get back to the days where we influenced them and not vice versa...

Yup. Some others that come to mind

Yup. Same way I see it.

theyre saying he's "bringing" hip hop into r&b as if this is some new concept.. nothing he is doing hasnt already been done before

and not one mention of tory lanez:pacspit:
Good. We gotta stop allowing the casual listener to group him into the PND/tiller category. All dope artists but he sounds nothing like them.

@kingofnyc kellz is more responsible than puff for the current r&b/hip hop blend. Fam made being a r&b "thug" popular & the norm
