despite the name, the permit is to purchase, not carry, and it always has been. it's even dumber than everyone who already corrected you said, it's illegal to even touch a pistol without a permit, even at a gun store or as a range rental. everybody buying their first handgun in new york has to do so completely sight unseen and hope that it's comfortable/they can shoot it effectively.

The constitution has been beaten like an old rug since before the slave owners who wrote them died. Social security is unconstitutional, welfare is unconstitutional, the DNA banks they lock nikkas up w are unconstitutional. Again, this is just to have a gun in your house for protection.

The gun laws here are unconstitutional, and the process is even more unconstitutional. They purposely make the process extremely long and difficult to dissuade people from attempting to get a gun. Its illegal to even touch a gun in a gun store if you dont have a permit for that specific firearm.

ion think it'll go that far again (at least regarding ccw) and if it did, does scotus even have that power? i can't think of any other instance like that except for the part of the voting rights act that isn't in force anymore, the one that required former slave states to get preclearance from the feds to enact any changes in their voting laws. anyway my point is that was done via legislation, i really can't see how a court could justify hamstringing an entire legislature/executive branch like that.
