Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
My mom loves Staten Island. Not going to lie there some to be a lot of land to build more houses on the far eastern portion of the North Side by the beach.

Yea the beach that no ones knows exist even though it’s pretty big.

I kid you not most of the boroughs make sure me feel like I’m in the burbs.

Discovered a lot of parts no where in my horizon to visit when I use to drive Uber.

South Shore Staten Island even has streeets with dirt roads on southern shyt in some areas.

I'm very curious about Staten Island, I've never even walked around there. All I really know is that the North shore is more urban and diverse than the South Shore, which seems like it could be a Jersey suburb.

I'm guessing the most interesting neighborhoods are on the North Shore? I wonder if there's any good nightlife up there now, a lot has changed in NYC since the last reply from five years ago.

North Shore also looks like Jersey also. The architecture there is no different than ghetto hoods you’ll find in Newark, Irvington or Orange/Elizabeth. Obviously no where near as dangerous tho.

Around the forest ave Exit they have some good restaurants and bars. During the summer they have a taste of Staten Island food festival where they shut the block down and these restaurants street vend.

Overall tho Staten Island is trump country and mad racist. They also have a huge opioid problem that shows you how connected to jersey they are. Would t live there but it’s cool to visit for the food and the mall. Good alternative to kings plaza while they fix the parking deck

Forest Ave is def a good food spot for sure.

View from Fresh Kills Park, formerly the city landfill, that gave the borough "it's a dump" status.

only cool thing to ever come out of staten island was wu-tang.

Man fukk any yall in this thread. Id beat yall up fr talking this shyt just like ive done other outter borrough heads for talking that shyt. Staten island goes harder because of yall talking tho. Lemme give a history lesson.

Staten island is its own world. With its own people. Youll find that out quick. Undercovers drive brand new benz there to fit in with traffic. Girls get dressed to the 9’s to get milk... full makeup and clothes. I showed my friend from south jersey he was in SHOCK at the culture dofference. Staten island takes everything to the next level.

Never have to leave it if you want. Its also one of the last places where you still get an nyc feel despite not being surrounded by buildings. We still have our accent i see it sliding in the other borroughs HEAVY. and your in the middle of nyc and jersey. Can work in newark. Manhattan. Brooklyn.

In the morning, itd take me an hour to get to uptownn manhattan by car. 2 hrs to get home. Atleast

By ferry its like 1.5hr each way. I lived in GREAT KILLS tho. North shore and depending wherebya work. It could be a SWEET commute. Ferry is great man. After work its like a floating bar. Have a beer. Relax. Yes you can drink on the ferry. My 2 beer ritual meeting up with my cousin in the city and taking train/ferry home . Good times.

Cops are fukked up tho. 120 is a fukking problem.they plant shyt on people all the time.

And dont let anyone scare you like its all white people either. Staten island has become lil brooklyn in past ten years. The ferry is filled with all races. And frankly its cheap to rent there.

Its easily the nicest looking “suburban” quiet borrough in nyc. And for us that have to commute its just enough going to manhattan for work. You can get a wonderful balance on staten island of suburban and city life at the same time you CANT get anywhere else.

Eat pizza at deninos. Cash only. ;).

Good luck. Feel free to send a pm i can point ya in any direction ya looking to go.

I see what you're saying but it still doesn't look like it's not in NYC. I would be interested in hearing a breakdown of the different neighborhoods though, at least the North Shore ones for now.

Side note, I bet Mid Island and South shore are more diverse than people give them credit for. I hear even Tottenville has a growing Mexican population? And where is that Liberian community at?

I've disagreed with you about SE Queens being suburban but I would agree that most of South Shore and Mid Island are suburban from what I've seen.

Google Maps

^These kind of streets look like they could even be in Suffolk County.

I went there for the first time in September after all the various times I have been to new york.....I walked around a bit and it seemed pretty nice but I didnt really go deep into the heart so what I saw was likely very limited

The ride on the ferry was cool...but that ride across in cold weather with that wind off the water must be brick like a motherfukker

I know the South Shore is pretty conservative, but the North Shore doesn't really look like Trump country at all. If I were to ever live in Staten Island, it would be the North Shore because I prefer urban areas and wouldn't want to live in Trump country. Plus it's more convenient to the rest of the boroughs, at least on the East Side.

Heroin seems to be a problem all over NYC to an extent.

Liberians mostly hang out around Park Hill. There are a good amount of Africans like Nigerians also.

Haven't been to Staten in years. Does it still smell like garbage after you cross the Verrazzano? :scust:

NYC black coffee tough guys aka the Stoozy Boys
Any real New Yorker will tell you;

Manhattan keeps on making it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it
Bronx keeps creating it, and Queens keeps on faking it....

Long Island is basically an extension of Queens and Staten is an extension of Jersey....they never mattered. With that posted, the Islands suck, needing a car for everything? Nah, no thanks.
