Born and bred in Brooklyn. During the pandemic though, the landlord (chinese) basically stopped taking care of building. Gas company shut him down and it was a horrible experience.

My wife and I shopped for houses in Brooklyn, Queens, and even the Bronx. Problem was Brooklyn and Queens wanted over 800k on anything decent. To make matters worse, if we wanted a yard, it wouldn't have a driveway/garage and vice verse, if we wanted a driveway/garage no real yard - and if we wanted both in Brooklyn, it was close to a million dollars or better. And lot of the houses in our price range in BK were small as hell.

The Bronx had some nice sized houses in our price range, but they were in less than stellar neighborhoods.

So we settled on Staten Island, South Shore, got a house a little under 700k. 3 floors, plus a fully furnished basement with a bedroom and its own little kitchenet, backyard, driveway/garage, and a mother in law suite with its own kitchen, living room, and bedroom (we rent that out to my mother in law).

We out the way, and it's mad quiet in my neighborhood. My work commute to BK is a little over an hour. However, I still get my fill of BK every day and it's nice to go somewhere where it's nice, peaceful, and secluded.

Congrats on the home, sounds really nice. That commute though... When I was living in BK it took my 45 min to commute from the south to the north of BK. That's an hour and a half of my day in the car dealing with a$$holes that shouldn't be driving all around me. I can't do that shyt anymore. It really drains you.

Thanks bro.

Yea, I been at my job 21 years, the commute for the first 17 years, up until 2021, was only 20 minutes for me. :mjcry:

But i don't drive to work. screw that shyt. I walk to the rail, it's only a 10 minute walk from my house. and then hop on the ferry. I actually like the ferry ride though. But yea commute time sucks.

Where in South BK did you leave?

Ahhh, I remember the pain of living in the Flatlands/Mill Basin area. You just know there's no shortcut to get to the city. Everytime going clubbing in the city (early 2000s to 2010s)or just on the other side of Brooklyn I just knew there will always be traffic. Bk in general is just so populated so alot of traffic. My commute to work in midtown manhattan always sucked. In 2015 moved to Riverdale and taking the Metronorth was waaaay less stressful than the subway. Last 4 years just been working from home. My commute now is from my kitchen to my office on my 3rd floor.
