I honestly dont know... I think he represents a shift in politics that he's is literally a 3rd party true independant. an actual wildcard that upsets the established order that's probably why they are freaking out.

Republicans do well in terms of setting the narrative and what are the hot topics the 'masses' should be water cooler talking about.

With Cubans down in Miami, for 3 decades plus, thru various means (mostly Latin radio) Republicans have gotten Cubans to believe any Democrat is Fidel Castro trying to bring Communism / Socialism.

Transgenders make up a minuscule part of the population, yet Republicans find a way everytime to force the Democrats into a corner and make it seem like a main talking for Dems.

He won a blue primary, in a Democrat stronghold state, against the incumbent Democratic politician who was backed by establishment Democrats.

One thing rethugs have over dems is that they won't fight their base to win an election. We saw how quickly they folded from 2015 to 2016 to daddy Trump. Dems will sabotage their own candidates for the sake of "winning". The democratic party never beating the controlled opposition accusations.
