Age limits would be nice, at the very least

anthr0.bsky.social
whats your upper limit? i think 65-70 is a good range
8/35
totallyblue.bsky.social
The last term year would be the year you turn 70. So back track from there to run
67 for congress
63 for senate
65 for president
59 for SCOTUS -10 year term limit
Create an advisory cabinet for aged out representatives to provide guidance/history to younger members. Paid $1/year w/o tangible power
9/35
anthr0.bsky.social
i like the aged out cabinet idea, some (few) politicians actually have important things to say even in their elder years

Somebody should clue in Schumer, Gillibrand, Jeffries and Richie Torres...all are on the AIPAC train and favor the dusty old timers and no real change at all.
AOC, Mamdani, Raskin and Murphy are the future.
And Bernie, always Bernie.

100% the future of the party, but more so the future of our country. Iโm sick to death of ghoulish republicans pushing their unpopular, despicable laws on us when there are only about 20-25% of the population wants their policies. End the electoral college and stop gerrymandering mandating!!!

Only 33 percent of voters hold a favorable view of Democrats, with a meager 8 percent holding a โvery favorableโ opinion, for a net negative favorability of 30 percentage points.
13/35
cecivrai.bsky.social
That is due to 2 distinct & diametrically opposed views. 1 part of that 70% is Republicans & anti-Democrat voters; the other part is ppl who want a demonstrably left wingโnot 1/2 measuresโeconomically responsive party thatโs willing to go further than a Schumer, Warner, or Fetterman (
) Democrat.

Maybe if you donโt live in a city you donโt see the value in making resources needed for survival like food, hygiene, & cleaning supplies available in a way thatโs not extremely inflated. I do.

I've always been what I considered a moderate left; I always appreciated the progressives because they always had the best new ideas. For me the downside was some of them were extremely radical, so I thought they hurt their own cause. AOC has changed my mind. She has matured & become our next step.

The thing about those "radical" ideas is that so many of them had their birth in the New Deal, or in reconstruction Europe after WW2. Things like universal healthcare, childcare, paid family leave, even clean energy, aren't new or radical ideas. We've just been told we don't deserve them.

We also need to learn to be mean. Be more aggressive. Name calling, bullying and outing their fascist policies. Mamdani is not letting New Yorkers forget about Cuomoโs past. Attack! attack! Be angry.

Agree, but also, let's remember that we did not elect Representatives to be loud-talking, media-savvy obstructionists and rebel opposition.
We elected them to legislate like sensible, competent administrators and professionals. In the before times.

Clinton had to clean up GW's mess.
Obama had to clean up GW,Jr's mess.
Biden had to clean up trump's mess ,
and a democrat will have to clean up trump's enorma-mess again.
It may not have been this way always, but it has been in modern times.

"Pragmatic progressive" ? Why are we applying corporate Dem verbiage to a literal Socialist & trying to make him more right wing than what he is?

It's directly responsible for where we are today as a country. No, absolutely not. We need a damn battering ram of straight up massive Socialist & progressive policies. This country has been dragged so far to the right that we are literally living in a fascist country. Pragmatism gave us that. /end
