It’s NEVER what it sounds like. It just so happened to unmute just as she talked about the plight of the black person and systemic racism…nothing to see here.

Just a big misunderstanding and a very specific string of bad luck to unmute at that exact moment. :manny:
Yea the problem is saying “they’re too dumb to realize…”

The way she described the children she was referring to colored the rest of her statement.
She was insulting them regardless of her true sentiment.

“These children are not aware enough to understand how their school is not serving them properly…”, etc.

THAT is how you reference children you see as people who are deserving of respect and a quality education.

She wouldn’t refer to Asian, white, Jewish, etc children of underperforming schools as “too dumb to understand…”

THAT is the point. The disrespect was in there from jump.

I always assume White folks are racists until they prove or disprove themselves otherwise.

I look at them all with an air skepticism.

Sit and observe them long enough who they really are will come out.

Most of them even White liberals view themselves with superiority to Black folks and other non-Whites.
Indeed.

You don’t know the words before that tho….

And the fact that her next sentence starts off with “Apparently (so & so) said you can train” leads to credibility that she could’ve been possibly referencing a larger point or common quote/thought in her original sentence.

"During the February 10 CEC3 meeting, there was a discussion about systemic racism and educational equity, with references to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the work of Carter G. Woodson, as well as school closures. Separately during the meeting, as a parent, I was trying to explain the concept of systemic racism by referencing a historical example.
I’ve read Woodson’s “Miseducation of the Negro” …..tough, borderline pessimistic book depending on how you take it.

If she was indeed just regurgitating thoughts / quotes from there…..she really Cheddar Bob’d herself with that hot mic

I don’t need to know the words before it.

The use of the word DUMB is enough to make one pause. She did herself no favors with that. I’m saying that colored the rest of her statement.

It’s clear these kids are petitioning for their school to remain open. It’s an underperforming school and those kids might actually learn more elsewhere. They’re kids though and they don’t understand that.

NOW,
Are we going to say “they are too dumb to understand…”, or could it have been worded a little better, especially by an educator? :jbhmm:

THAT is the point.

It’s little shyt like that folks need to be able to pick up. It’s a dismissive term that would not have been used to describe kids of another community.
No empathy, and at best, sympathy.

More context could clarify the “dumb” part, especially for person showing up to a zoom meeting about school closures and we don’t if she voluntarily showed up and is for or against it.

But I ain’t gonna reach too much for a cape:hubie:

I generally agree with your point, but just to play devil's advocate: A lot of liberal whites will freely say things like: "[those white people] are too dumb to understand that they're voting against their interests when they vote for Trump."

In which case, it's less about racism and more about classism and coastal elitism vs flyover states. In this case, if I squint, this woman could be referring to dumbass children.

With that said, she done fukked up. :yeshrug:

This isn't a convo between hipster friends in some chic gentrified bar in Williamsburg.

And we're not discussing grown adults in Kentucky or Indiana or whereverthefukk

Address the topic at hand.

As an educator, you can't refer to children and/or students, as "too dumb." Irregardless of whether they're your students or not. Its unbecoming of an educator.

For her to then follow it up with the "train Black people" remark was the icing on the cake.

Y'all really in here with these outlandish whataboutisms to defend this liberal white bytch. Its gross :scust:

Breh, I knew it was a little bad but these men really trying to excuse these cacs at every turn.

Folks afraid to get down to the root of this shyt on a damn Black forum.

As you stated, this is a professional setting and they are discussing children. To not be able to note the difference between professionals discussing children on the clock and people speaking off the cuff or in a casual setting is startling.

It’s a zoom meeting. :mjlol: “Professional setting” vs casual is a lil blurry when it comes to these WFH situations & muting your mic or turning off your camera.

In her response she says “as a parent I was explaining”, which I take as she was talking to her own child on the side while the zoom meeting was going on.

My brother speaks in very blunt, direct, crass terms when speaking to his children about real shyt. So I can see the scenario playing.

You believe she was talking to her kids in saying Blacks are used to going to the back (of the bus) when trained?

It’s possible.

And it’s possible to me in particular, because of how my bro speaks to his kids. :pachaha: I be taken aback about how “open book” he is with them sometimes, but it usually drives his point home.

I can’t make out what she said after Apparently….but it does sound something like “Apparently (so & so) thinks if you train a black person…”

:mjlol: She legit could’ve been explaining a larger point, but just using plain/blunt language in what she thought was the privacy of her own home……and now her whole life is bout to get derailed :russ:

Would be trippy if she’s legit cool peoples, and now the black people in her circle gotta look at her with the :mjpls: :leostare:

If this is the case, what an incredibly terrible time to catch a hot mic….it’s like she bad faith clipped herself lmao
