If they can handle the cost of white collar corruption on Wall Street, they can handle fatties ODing on Dr Pepper and Pepsi. NYC is the international capitol of the world. They can handle it.
This just leaves more realistic solution is to be found.
And to the people that are shaming fat people, while I'm not saying they have the right to be enormous, stop acting like fat is the root of the problem. It stems from a lot of other things. Rarely, if ever, does anyone just try to get as big as possible.

I don['t even drink pop myself, but considering that I'm sure most of yall smoke/drink/eat fast food/etc it comes of as a little self-righteous.
I say just tax sugary drinks (and other unhealthy foods) a lot more. Kinda like how cigs and alcohol are taxed.

rep this nicca...True. I'd be fine with roaming death squads for the extreme fatties, say over 45% body fat. It probably wouldn't make it to Congress tho.
Edit: I know it's wrong but it would be super effective. You give every fat fucc a year to get below say 25% body fat after which it's a headshot on sight. I guarantee 90% of those fat "It's not my fault, it's my metabolism!!" fukks would have a change of genetics.
