He's openly criticized the policy mistakes of past NYPD commissioners/lawmakers about S&F and police brutality.

Crime continued to drop after the city dropped Stop and Frisk, because they used smart policing decisions. The mayor is going to be smart on crime, not hard on crime. But be clear, something has to be done about the violence and crime.
