It has an influence no matter how minor influence is influence.

Drill could disappear there would still be crime of course I know that. Doesn’t mean that drill should be allowed to live with impunity or that we should be cool with it. The mayor should be outraged.

The community should be outraged. If you’re a parent of a child in the Bronx you shouldn’t want your child listening to it. Chii Wvttz, the drill rapper that just got killed just had his father come out and say drill is the devil’s music.

This doesn't mean anything if you get out of your Rap Is Crap bubble.

Again, these politicians got ya'll chasing ghosts.

Rikers is still a hellhole. But, Mayor Adams watching YouTube.

On one end drill music is a product that stems from other issues affecting our communities, and then on the other end it also makes things worse.

I have no problem with the mayor trying to get rid of it, but he also has to address the root of the problems.

This is basically "Putting a bandaid on a bullet wound".

He doesn't have to go after the artists.

But, he and the district attorneys can legally go after IHeart Radio (Power 105), Emmis Communications (Hot 97), YouTube, Twitter, Facebook/Instagram/Meta, Soundcloud, Viacom, Starz and all other media platforms that sell advertising and subscriptions for programming content destructive to the community.

You don't have a constitutional right to profit from yelling fire in a crowded theater.
I can't believe the Coli is this stupid about censorship :dahell: Do you remember the Supreme Court cases vs the 2 Live Crew????

Private business can decide not to do business with any reason outside of any reasoning protected under the 14th amendment. But the government can't make rules that restrict speech. Music is considered speech.

Careful or you'll draw lazy comparisons between the content these "rappers" produce and the content Keanu Reeves produces.

If Keanu Reeves threatens to "smoke his opps" Hugh Jackman in real life during a John Wick sequel, then he'll undergo the same treatment.

No he can't. Have you brehs ever taken a civics class?????
The politicians can put pressure on the platform as can the news publications and police whether direct or indirect.

Even if it isn’t law just speaking on it along with actual deaths puts a big target on platforms.

OnTheRadar, the go to platform for up and coming drill rappers already said they aren’t allowing rappers to diss opps on freestyles.

There's an attitude in most threads like this that until the root problem is addressed, doing anything else is a waste of time. We can make it impossible to monetize the deaths or pending deaths of Black people and simultaneously work on addressing the root problems right?

This "all or nothing" rhetoric is lazy and transparent.

And you think the platforms will listen?? You think Joe Rogan is still on Spotify for no reason? You brehs lack critical thinking.

And th anti-vax movement is way more deadly than street violence.

Imagine a seasoned politician like Eric Adamns thinking he can actually enact censorship. This is all for show :russ:

He's still on Spotify because they paid him 100 million dollars. They've had to make a number of changes to the way they handle content like his as a result of this controversy. It's not like Spotify is looking the other way, they literally pulled 70 of his episodes down.

Y’all act like nothing else be going on

It’s politics shyt gets done slowly

The projects in my area getting a multimillion dollar renovation. There’s been several anti-gun violence RTG program centers created in my neighborhood. The NYCHA community center has funding for COVID PPE and vaccines, food pantries, summer block party, etc. All this shyt is supposed to help.

Is Spotify an executive in the government?? :dahell: do you know what censorship means?

If Eric Adams or the City Council enacted a law banning Brooklyn drill in NY, it would get laughed out of court.

Yeah because they're small players. The Breakfast Club will be having the next trap rapper on their show by Monday :heh:.
They’re not small players

One is the go to drill platform for up and comers and the other is the white hip DJ that’s responsible for breaking local artists on the radio late night

We talking about drill not trap…real trap music don’t even exist anymore
