Drill was birthed in Chicago. NY took Drill to shed its 'safe' image of being the ATL North from the 2008 to 2014 era, when Strip Club songs were the norm.

A lot of early Drill rappers site 50 Cent as the inspiration for Drill.

Also, I'm glad I was checked out of rap between those times.

Lol none of that is the actual problem. :dead:

The problem is structural racism and neoliberalism/late stage capitalism and how they are negative reinforcers of one another.

Saying the problem is Black people can’t raise families right and think academic achievement is nerdy is honestly slanderous anti-Black rhetoric and basically the same thing as every dumb dipshyt racist Rush Limbaugh listener has been saying for decades.

You're right, black folks aren't in any way responsible for their own problems and aren't in need of a cultural reform.
:skip:

It's capitalism's fault. :pachaha:

I wasn't trying to be smart.
Is there something stupid about keeping the same energy across all genres?

You're smart. Please explain

:jbhmm:
People did complain about metal…it’s also a dead musical genre almost all those genres you listed are dead. Not only that they may have violent content but not to the degree of the average drill or gangsta rap record.

Why should we give a fukk about those genres we don’t listen to them and it doesn’t affect or represent our community.

Drill does. Why would Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City address any other genre when in the city where he’s a politician drill is the preferred music of the youth. Most of y’all not even from NYC so I don’t think you could even gauge the cultural impact of this shyt from the fashion, to the kids getting “sturdy”, to the actual killings. None of y’all work with kids especially at risk ones and see how alluring drill makes the gang life to them. I actually fukk with a lot of drill shyt but I’d be lying to not state it’s negative influences.

But the fact is, Drill was birthed in Chicago.

Yeah, its societal conditions that people turn to crime and violence to survive, but Drill got Gen Z by the chokehold and it isn't a net positive, for reducing black men's deaths as mere "entertainment". You know a lot of these kids didnt have the proper childhoods with dysfunctional households from dire economic conditions, but why add fuel to the fire?

Above the fray.
I don't know.
Is there any analysis that proves music causes violence?

Or are people just going to sit here and pretend correlation equals causation?
The point was that "bu bu but white artists in other genres do it" doesn't affect or apply to the young Black kids in these cities where this real life violence is being celebrated in music.

The past few years, there have been threads about rappers laughing and taking credit for rivals dying (and naming them in songs)..and then being killed themselves in retaliation murders.

I'm not a fan of it either, if those guys want to make violent videos fantasizing about murdering Black men, they can do it all day long, that doesn't mean it should be platformed for widespread consumption.

Let's have this debate, if you'd like;

How exactly would you like to see this ban enacted and to what degree?

What are the limits and what type of punishments would you like to see for ppl who try to post it?

This is like a weekly thread, now.

He makes no good point.

Trump had to incite a damn insurrection terrorist attack and attempted coup on the nation's capitol before social media finally took action.

Call me back when Drill fans are planning terrorist attacks on governments if we really gonna entertain this fallacy.

Mayor Adams is the biggest boot licking negro in politics. fukk what he has to say.
Wait, you haven't read about men, women, and children dying from stray shots in the areas where these gangs are having shootouts?

These MFers ARE terrorists.

How?

Take a nonviolent, mild mannered black kids and tell me how drill music (music I do not consume as a fan) make them a violent gangster.

I'm 100% all ears.
