So let's ban the music the comes as a result from the problems in these communities instead of fixing the problems in the actual community

This says two things that I really don't like

1. You guys can kill each other, you just can't rap about it

2. Cacs kids can consume this music and mafia movies/violent video games but somehow we can't

:mjpls:

It's not instead of, it's in addition to.

Every thread like this brings out people who view any responses to people wanting to address anti-Black music through the lens of "all or nothing". People in cities across this nation are working to address the root issues, one of those issues is poverty. If kids believe that trafficking in Black death by way of drill music could give them a shot at getting rich, then there's an incentive to move in the ways those crowds move.

Drill is some trash but no mayor has the power to get a genre of music pulled from Youtube, Yall "Mayor with Swag" is talking tough for cacs. Just do your job fam
Can’t get a genre pulled but getting videos shot in nyc pulled showing guns or promoting gangs.. YouTube is already cooperating with authorities in the UK on this same issue and removing videos

I support this. We literally have a culture where a YouTube video getting uploaded might result in at least 2 murders. Yeah yeah yeah we know it's a symptom not a cause, but infections can be spread by symptoms. There are 0 redeeming qualities about so much of this. You wanna listen to it, fine. But yeah maybe you shouldn't be allowed to distribute promo tapes about murdering opps. Don't need to criminalize it, just have the companies curb the distribution like w/ other content.

I'm not a fan of it either, if those guys want to make violent videos fantasizing about murdering Black men, they can do it all day long, that doesn't mean it should be platformed for widespread consumption.
They wouldn't do it if there wasn't major payday potentially behind it. They all know or they wouldn't be dancing on table.

Why are the arguments of being critical of the music synonymous or = disregarding systemic issues as if it is impossible to address multiple issues

The leading cause of death of "cac kids" isn't homicides or murders from other "cac kids"

Which for blk men and boys up until the age 44 homicide is the leading cause and overwhelmingly being murdered by other blk men and boys

My Pops Forever RIP
I'm not with blaming a form of entertainment for these young cats killing each other. Mayor Adams' main concern should be getting these illegal guns out these youngins hands.
He's made a point of saying that and referring to the Iron Pipeline for all the fukk shyt that gets here.
This shyt has been political since forever. How long will it take for the problems to actually be addressed in a efficient manner? I have been living in NYCHA for most of my life and the community is still dealing with the same shyt. NYC is inconsistent when it comes to addressing and fixing the problems of low-income areas. Things will be going good for a couple of months, then it resorts back to the same ole bullshyt. Your area is getting a multimillion dollar renovation, but what about others that have been asking for it for decades?

They always talk about it being in the "works", but they never actually do anything. My NYCHA area is in the process of being privatized right now(I don't know if it is going to go through), but it might make matters even worse. I know there are programs out there that have been helping the community though, but it is not enough and time is of the essence.

There is another problem too, NYCHA and the NYC government needs to do a better job at promoting the already made resources that are available too. I found free-tech training through NYCHA through my own searching, and I wonder how many other people knew about this. :jbhmm:

See, I think this generation of kids has all this information if not already in their heads, then definitely a click or two away. These kids know there are alternatives to the shyt they have (rapping is one of them). They just have no real interest in making those decisions because they wanna do what makes them feel good since they think they're gonna die young anyway. They don't value their time on Earth. It's not helping that some of these kids got parents who are either unaware, in denial or don't give a fukk what their kids are doing.

Above the fray.

There have been key arrests of gangs and gun runners since Adams got into office.
President Biden was in town a few days ago with Mayor Adams, discussing that issue and the Fed. Task Force put together to stop gun trafficking to 5 metro areas, including NYC.

Fact that this happened a few days ago, and people are running with "bu bu bu but he needs to address gun violence instead of rappers" shows that people see what they want to see.

See, I think this generation of kids has all this information if not already in their heads, then definitely a click or two away. Surefire way to get a thread locked is to mention that people are INDIVIDUALS, and that they make decisions that can improve or hinder their chances in life.
Some would have us think that external forces directly determine the outcome of a person. That they play no part at all in how their life goes.

Some brehs on this site always, and I mean always, want to act like you cant walk and chew gum at the same time.

Can't vote because that means you can't practice black group economics.

Can't take issue with drill music because that means you're letting white supremacy off the hook

Tired of going in circles with brehs on this as the community is in a death spiral.

When did he say he was going to lobby Washington?

Did you watch the man speak? He’s talking about the media companies and how they have a “civic and moral responsibility” which is why they have terms of use. The drill music videos violate those terms of use en masse because of that he has a legitimate claim to present them with on top of the wild shyt that’s been happening in the city and to these kids specifically.

U hell bent on being a contrarian so it is what it is
No I'm not. You're dumbass is overcomplicating this. Eric Adams is grandstanding. It's that simple. How hard is that to understand?
