NYC Mayor passes a law preventing the discrimination of people with obesity. Often people with obesity face unfair stigma, bias and outright ridicule.

Fat shaming saves lives
Facts...

Years ago I had a mother bring her son into my gym begging me to train him...Son was 5'9 260...My first response was no because he didn't come to me asking for help and I run a boxing gym, not a weight loss clinic...She not the one who needs to put in the work to lose that weight, he does...We had a little talk and I ended up taking him in under my wing...He was warned I will not take it easy on him...First day I asked him to do two sets of 10 pushups, light bag work and jog half a mile...I didn't care about form, told him he can do the pushups on his knees...For him this was still a lot, son barely made it through 5 pushups before he started bytching and said I quit...He was about to walk out the gym, I said ok fatboy, got loud and just started lacing him with fat jokes...Had everybody in the gym staring at him and laughing...He was so heated, I legit thought son was gon try something stupid and throw a weight at me...To my surprise he got back down and persevered through those pushups...

About 2 months later through hard work and dedication he was down to 190...To this day both him and his mother thank me for saving his life...Sometimes you need to shame somebody to spark that fire in them to do better...
