does Jersey use slang that New Yorkers and Philly dudes can’t relate to or does southern Jersey use Philly slang and Northern NJ use NY slang.

Does anyone in Newark say “Son” and “B” a lot?

Seen a video of a Newark dude using old nyc slang saying “word is bond”!
"word is bond" is a nation of gods and earth lingo

Above the fray.
I'm from Brooklyn and I use Philly slang "jawn" as my nicotine patch to stop using bytch.

I haven't used the word bytch to mean women in years.

Proud of myself.

Do they still use the term chumpy in philly?

chumpy and jawn were interchangeable

* All the slang terms I'm using in this thread are 20 years old, don't quote me boy cause I ain't said shyt . Young dudes hear you using these words out there & will rob you on GP....for the culture.

Pretty much. Jawn is way more popular due to the fact that women are referred to as jawns so it is just used in conversation more. Chumpy (in my head) means "thing I can't get the name of" as opposed to "I just call everything a jawn, even if I know its called a pencil"

NY and NJ slang is different, may have the same connotations but different words. Philly is totally different - they have their own slang.

aggie - originated out of jerz
using "wild" in front of words - NY
acting froggie - NY
what up, jo- DC
lunchin- DC
jawn - philly

"B"- mainly a harlem thing
dudes used to say "what up, dun".. Queens, ny thing.

when did "beloved" become a thing? idk. hear men in NY say that a lot.

don't know about modern slang......but Jersey...and by Jersey I mean Newark......used to exist in its own world and have its own slang

STIFE=skinny as in crackhead skinny
HIKE= what other places call ranking, snapping ,jonin on somebody
SHOOTING ME PRISM= eyeballing somebody like you want problems

Never heard those terms outside of Jersey....in fact, the guy who played
Bodie on the Wire..snuck in "stife" in his dialogue during a scene on that show and it made me smile. He's from Newark.

Never heard those words before in my life.. lol.
