there needs to be an amendment that calls for a nuclear option when impeachment fails that gives the option, similar to the roman dictator, where we can call upon two former presidents (one from each party) for temporary joint rule until the current president and select members of his cabinet are deposed and to oversee a peaceful transfer of power to the vice president. should only be invoked when there is institutional and foundational erosion. yes, jd vance, by all accounts, will not be better than trump, but with this check in place, would not dare cross any institutional red lines.
