that ill-fitting, neutral tucked-in polo, the most generic-ass blue jeans possible, wearing serious running shoes (he's not really a runner, he just rocks them for basically any non-formal occasion, cuz asics makes that all-purpose footwear, breh :whoo: ) that probably cost more than the rest of his whole outfit combined.

if this wasn't who i knew it was i would assume this was a stock photo of a complete middle-aged suburban square who can't wait to get home and water his lawn cuz it hasn't rained in 2 days and he takes pride in how green and thick the shyt is.

the most powerful man on the planet. the leader of the free world. this is barack obama, president of the united states of america, looking like that...riding around the side streets on a bicycle, with a helmet on.

i dunno, maybe it's cuz i'm drunk...but goddamn this picture is fukking hilarious. :russ:

Juan Roberto's bald spot
you might agree with it but a lot of people don't. syria isn't really a scandal but the fact is there are a lot of people who truly believe the US has a moral obligation to step in and handle these types of issues around the world. i'm trying to view this from a historical standpoint. 500k killed, millions displaced>>>failed debt deal that we really don't know all the details about.
I dont wanna seem callous (duh) :whoa: but I can' fully ride with the 500k figure. Other than the Allepo destruction video there is scant evidence of this. I cant really trust these 'neutral observers' because I remember Chalabi and em banging on about Saddam being on some marvel supervillian status. Other mass casualty events, Rwanda we saw rivers of blood and skulls, eastern europe fukkery mass graves and skulls.
500k with western media on full hype mode and no evidence mass graves or skulls piled atop each other, a figure that was brought out early in the war and has somehow remained constant years later :lupe:
I think my Obama stannism may have gone overboard :snoop:

Not really. His decision to not get involved further is something I agree with. The worst thing he did--which is not a scandal--was the grand compromise he offered Boehner.
:mindblown:

why do people not remember he wanted to get into syria, even going on tv to convince the people. No one else thought it was a good idea

That was politics. Congress was criticizing for not doing anything, and he put it in their hands knowing they wouldn't vote to give him what he wanted. If I remember right, he wanted limited intervention, gop wanted troops in thete. This was after Libya if I remember right.

he didn't need congress' approval to do bombing runs in syria (defense dept and state dept were already paving the way for that before he thought better of it ... the neocons call it chickening out and showing weakness). going on tv, going to congress came AFTER he decided against bombing runs. he did an about face because he felt it was some kind of trap because if you bomb facilities because assad used chemicals, that won't get rid of the chemicals because you can't bomb the places where it's stored because that would release said chemical weapons, so the next step is mission creep and troops on the ground. also a year before he had met with putin at some gathering and talked to him about assad and his chemical weapons and if he can get his homeboy to get rid of them. so even that was in motion before and that wasn't something that was drawn up within days to get putin to negotiate with assad about getting rid of the chemical weapons.

the washington security establishment (including the hawks in congress) were mad that he went to congress because they knew that if he wanted to do it he could have done it on his own and this was his way of changing his mind and not look weak ("oh my hands are tied by congress. :troll:" .

anyway none of this has anything to do with this thread, because even if was as you believe, asking for permission to attack another country and being rebuffed by congress isn't' a scandal.

He didn't embarrass himself. Nobody even talks about that shyt :mjlol:
because we all saw how it turned out. The fact that the public was so overwhelmingly against it put him in a position he couldnt get out of.

it just bugs me that people act like it was so prudent of him not to go in, when he held a primetime speech telling people we should
