A President cannot do single payer via Executive Order. The courts would strike it down quickly since its obviously illegal.

You aren't understanding.
He did many things where he bypassed congress that should be deemed illegal like wars against Libya, Syria and Drone wars, Chrysler bailout, bypassing drug laws, etc.

These things have the same constitunial tension as single-payer.

Now you may say ya but even if he does that the courts would deem it illegal.
But didn't he do things and then ignore the courts?
Or something he had control over the courts, specifically by ensuring it went through the FISA courts, remember that?
Snowden's leaks showed he had some control over FISA courts I believe.

And during his presidency he spoke about single-payer and said that America's employer-based insurance system and a powerful private insurance industry made single-payer unrealistic for America.

So he didn't even try to sell it, he said it was unrealistic.

Pretty much most or all of those things are something any President would have done because the President's authority has expanded and Congress has not checked it. Its routine at this point.

A President cannot implement an entire health care system by himself. That's outrageous to suggest that's possible.

Added an AI video transcript of the YouTube video, though it did miss some things such as Obama mentioning when running for senator, he claimed that all we needed was the Senate and the House and we could get things done.

The Democrats had the Senate and The House for a year and six months during one of his terms.

But I digress.

Lotta y'all too young to remember the Obama years, but He didn't have Joe Lieberman, who was a Democrat in name only. There were some other "Democrats" that probably didn't like him either, but they hated in private.

Same thing with Manchin and Fetterman who also work against Democrat presidents to stop things that Democrats want, even though they are Democrats.

Folks think that having 51 senators makes and a majority in the house means you can pass whatever, but it's like folks slept through high school history and civics, and then purposefully don't watch the news.

And this is because the Democrats believe in the super majority. You need 60 votes to get anything done in the Senate.

And the Senate sits on top of rigged game because of (anti Black) gerrymandering since at least LBJ, if not earlier.

Let's not even touch the both siders who see Trump clearly doing illegal things on the daily, and turn around and say Dems don't do anything.

Single payer universal Healthcare is the goal. But I give him props for spending all his political capital on this issue and he created a system where everyone could theoretically be covered.
Far from perfect and he bit the Republican plan Romney did at the st a te level but it was a big step in the right direction.
This is THE issue along with getting money out of politics and he made it a priority. The country would improve so much if everyone had Healthcare not tied to some job.

Between his cabinet picks and the healthcare fiasco, I was done by six months into his first term.:martin:
Getting in bed with the Clinton's and filling his cabinet with their surrogates is what really doomed his Presidency. I was done with him after he promised to renegotiate NAFTA. Only to backtrack before he was even sworn in. That showed he wasn't going to make any tangible moves. Except maintainijh the status quo. The result of led to Trump after making all these empty promises. I think he realizes he got played by Centrist Democrats but can't admit it.

Not having this convo with people who weren't there. If you can explain to me how Obama was going to get Lincoln Blanch, Ben Nelson, and the other blue dog a$$holes to vote for that please present your evidence. I'm 100% convinced single payer would have passed in the House, Pelosi has said as much. But it was not passing the senate.
