I cringe so hard whenever a non black/white person does something that's not positive and they get anointed with a 'black card' by black people.
Same ones saying he's right will probably be the same ones who are angry at the success of Iggy Azalea

I agree with you that America would be so better if not for the insanity of white racism. This country would progress at an almost exponential rate if white Americans distanced themselves from this ingrained idea of their superiority. It is a sickness that infects policy in America at several levels - justice system, environment (yes, white supremacy is stifling progress on cleaning up our world), foreign wars, etc.While I agree with him (He's not saying anything particularly groundbreaking), I take issue with the fact that he feels comfortable saying this stuff to blacks (again), while he fails to have a word to say to other groups (Particularly White Americans).
How I would love to hear him call out "Middle America" for it's lack of understanding in regards to climate change, and for it's continuous war on abortion rights, it's fear of anyone different from them....etc etc etc.
White Americans are the problem in this country. They are holding the nation back politically and culturally. NOBODY calls them out as a group for their faults. They still walk around thinking that they are "exceptional" when they are average as fukk and that's the problem.
White Americans have their own version of being "authentic". Don't fukking kid yourselves. These are the people that want to teach creationism in school...white southerners in particular are just as anti-academic as anyone.
I feel like Obama is mostly just pandering with this kind of stuff. I dunno...I feel like Black folks will see how "Authentic" Obama is *after* his presidency. I would love for him to become an advocate for criminal justice reform, speak out against private prisons, turn his back on his wall street backers...etc.
Imagine how powerful he could be. If he took up just a *few* causes....he would actually EARN those comparisons to MLK and others that I've seen him compared to in the past.
But he's likely to just go on the ex-president speaking tour like most of them do....
However, I disagree that Obama has just pandered to black Americans. Holder, his subordinate, has done a lot to reverse the discriminatory policies that've impacted black America through prosecution of the socalled war on drugs. As flawed as its rollout admitedly has been, the affordable care act has helped many black Americans who otherwise had no access to affordable and adequate healthcare. Too often, black people wrongly attribute the racist fallout of Obama's presidency to his incompetency.

Its funny, because hate speech in other countries often times does carry a heavier penalty, as does being a member of a hate group, and publishing hateful media. More could be done in terms of what is and isn't allowed, but America is obsessive with promoting this image that we are the "Land of the Free" though we are like 15th in terms of Freedom of Press. He doesn't want to take that route while President because Republicans will piss themselves with joy over the opportunity to paint Barack Obama as Malcolm X or Huey Newton, who is only focused on the Black community.Why can't Obama just make racism illegal?!
I agree with him completely though, he is saying what all of us know, but most of us are Black so he's relaying our experience to White people.
Also as young Black guy, I see sports and music as the biggest ways to make money, there aren't other jobs where you can make millions of dollars a year as a Black person. I already know my pay for BigLaw is going to be bullshyt, hood nikkas do too. Dave Chappelle was right,"And you’ve got to learn how to rap or play basketball or something, either do that or sell crack."
I've been told I speak White, use too many big words, and don't act Black enough. I get tired of it. Especially now in college when my school is 94% White. I still don't fukk with Obama too heavily, but he is right.
Thats what makes us a great country though.
Id rather live in a world where racism is legal, than one where you think clamping down on free speech is the way to go.

I don't really take all those stats seriously.
1. the EU is like a big country with porous borders and smaller populations and more homogenous populations
2. the US is a huge country with a bigger population than all of those places
3. the US leads the world in higher ed. I know primary has vast gaps but to say we're lacking is pretty disingenuous.
4. Limiting hate speech is like a band-aid on a bigger problem and used to detract from addressing other things
5. sure they are "ahead" of us on other metrics, but far behind on others.
Complaining about flaws in first world countries is kinda like taking taking victory laps and fine tuning things.

Your post just unfortunately exposed your lack of intelligence, and your lack of understanding of language, and your personal insecurities.
First off the idea of proper language is fuccing joke. Language evolves, and takes many twist and turns. It's been this way since human beings came about. Speaking properly is just something that the elites came up with to make the so-called lessers feel even more inferior, and folks like you(and myself at one point) buy into that nonsense mindset, and think we are some how special because we can talk like them.
But what Black people have done with Euro languages is fukking special and beautiful, and it's a shame your types can't see this. Seriously, how do you think all these languages evolved, English and every other language at one time was just a dialect or slang that developed into a full fledged language.
Black people have created their own distinct language within a language, and instead of putting it down, we should exalt it, and be proud of it. Cause Black American English, just like Caribbean Patios, African Broken English, and Krio(Sierra Leone) has brought new life, and energy to the English Language, and evolve it.
But folks like you, don't get it, because all you see is the color behind the language, and because it's of African extract, you've been thought that means that it's bad, stupid, and ignorant.
Yes Blacks in this country we have our issues, and we all know it. But this speaking properly shyt, urks me to the fullest. It's so a such a stupid subject, and it's another thing used to make Black people feel even more less, cause division. And I truly hope, that one day, you will understand this.
There's nothing wrong with the way some Black people speak, just because it may not be way White people of certain ilk speak, does not make it wrong, it's called language, and that's how it's always been.

english is the universal language of modern society, the one most commonly used, and black people do themselves a disservice when they mangle it and embrace that tortured use. blacks who speak in ebonics are looked down upon by everyone who speaks proper english, including other blacks. it is a sign of poor intelligence and/or limited education. yes, i have every right to look down on anyone speaking in ebonics. it means i'm not taking you seriously.
