The Deep State
First stop to solving a problem is acknowledging that it exists, something Obama seems very hesitant to do, which is what Trump was getting at.

so the fbi should keep him detained even though they don't make a case? .i wonder what all these constitution loving muricans would think about that.

obama was just talking a couple weeks ago in that elkhart town hall about how potential terrorists are on watchlists and authorities can stop them from flying, but not buying.

Obama to gun owners — I’m not looking to disarm you
Nah, I'm suggesting he stops letting certain people in until radical Islam is weeded out. I explained how in an above post.

There's no way to stop to every lone wolf terrorist. But you can exert influence on Islam so it's no longer culturally acceptable within Muslim society.
No, he isn't. He's hesitant to say the problem is inherent in Islam ... because the overwhelming majority of Muslims live normal, peaceful lives. He wants to avoid the same amount of prejudice and hatred targeted at brown people in the US following 9/11. Some on the right would rather we take a hatchet to the problems surrounding Islam, when a scalpel would better address them.

Most mainstream liberals don't advocate for the complete banning of all firearms. They just want stricter guidelines on who has access to them, and how guns are tracked. The GOP nominee, however, is advocating for a "temporary" ban Muslims from entering the country & becoming citizens. Who can say how long that could be?
The right want a Holy War, some of the left are too soft on Islam. Obama's in the middle and bombs brown people without blinking an eye.

Thread.
Honestly, while it pisses me off, I understand why he doesn't say it. He explained explicity this in this long ass interview.

The Obama Doctrine

Basically, if he labels islam as this "thing" people inevitability create their own panic and shyt gets really wonky and you end up with more problems.

Obama knows theres a problem. The US Government knows theres a problem. The Military knows theres a problem.

The shadow elements of government are tracking as much shyt as they can because we have an image to uphold to the rest of the world and we dont want to infringe on the rights of others in weird times where we're publicly discussing civil rights.

Theres more to lose than to gain if he does it.

And the GOP/Right-Wing knows this...and they're using it to dig at him.

well considering the age of this native born citizen, you're picking the wrong situation to advocate your solution because it wouldn't have helped. you might as well say obama should travel back in time 28 years ago to queens, nyc and kick the mother in the stomach repeately. that would be more effective.

He isn't just not mentioning 'Radical Islam' though, he's actively playing it down. It was not long ago when Obama said that ISIS were not a threat to the United States, couple weeks later we had the first ISIS terrorist attack in the US. That's nothing to do with not pissing off Muslims, that's just negligence.
I didn't say it was a good thing. I am pointing out how hypocritical the right is ... they don't live in reality.
The republican nominee just won the nomination by a historical landslide while shyttin on Bush's foreign policies so maybe it is you not living in reality. Many people on the right recognize the mistake of those foreign policies, the left is continuing them while the right has moved on, that's the point. Same people who wouldn't shut up about Guantanamo haven't got shyt to say about it now, haven't got anything to say about drones, destroying countries by deposing dictators, funding Islamic terrorists etc That is hypocritical.

No, no, no, no, no, you're wrong. Conservatives are not advocating a dove-like foreign policy. Trump might shyt on the Iraq war, but him and those on the right still want to increase the size of military, increase military spending, and put boots on the ground in Syria and Iraq ... hell, maybe even turn to Iran. Had a Republican won in 2008 & 2012, our foreign policy would not look much different, and I guarentee you most conservatives would not be arguing to pull out. Progressives are the only ones advocating against these costly wars, but the progressive candidate didn't win the primary. And right-wingers call them soft for doing so. If you think there are no liberals putting pressure on the Obama administration to do these things, then you're a fukking idiot.

And to the other point, I think Obama likened ISIS to a JV team in as far as how much of a threat they were do the lives of everyday American. You're more likely to die in a car crash or choking on a Big Mac than you are to in a terrorist attack. It's a matter of keeping perspective on all this, and that's why he does it...to keep down hysteria regarding Muslims in America.

8 years deep and we still have these attacks under his watch. He failed and this is his legacy.

Here's a man just making excuses at this point...
Its a lone wolf attack. You cant predict or foil these type of attacks. Yes, He was under FBI watch and on the terror list but GOP and NRA lobbying has thwarted anyways to have him legally unable to purchase a weapon. Don't blame this on Obama when he has made many attempts in preventing this. This is on NRA lobbyist hands
