I know the "fascist" label can be a hyperbole but it fits the bill with Putin. He is a traditionalist who uses cult of personality and force to broaden his image of strength to the Russia people.
His views of nationalism take almost a spiritual turn. Russia is a person or a group of people, its an ideological concept to him.
All while fusing the private corporate apparatuses with the state, hence why he is worth billions of dollars.
This is up in the air. There is a reason why none of the Baltic want anything to do with Russia.
