Countless examples of presidents acting cordial to dictators and despots....but Obama different cause he black tho

Do you believe this to be the true root cause of this backlash ?

I'd argue it has more to do with politics and voting blocs, especially in Florida. We have a huge Cuban expat community here and they basically run shyt in Dade County (where Miami is) and large chunks from the keys to Orlando. They foam at the mouth when it comes to Cuba and Castros. Their children and their grandchildren took on their hatred. It's why you have Neo Con Cubans left and right in both houses.

Only reason I ask is because I remember the backlash Clinton got for sending in Feds to reclaim that little Cuban boy and send him back to Cuba to be with his father. Clinton was seen as the devil here, and a lot of people think that it cost Gore Florida in 2000. Seems like it has to do with politics and voting to me. They can boost up nonsense to regain some lost latino votes. Last time I checked Clinton was white but I have to double check.

I assume you're referencing the Elian Gonzalas situation, which was unique and complicated. When applying perspective, reason, and historical referents, "the handshake" as it were isnt quite as scandalous as the conservative echo chamber would have you believe. You really dont think that the right's caterwauling over this isnt another chapter in their effort to 'otherize' Obama as a commie lovin', secret muslim, socialist, scary blacky black guy, in order to further terrify their anxiety-ridden constituency base?

The "root cause"...these fools aint Cuban:

I'm in agreement with you that a handshake between word leaders is nothing to fuss about, I'm telling you the root cause of the fake outrage. It's votes, not the President's race. They want to stir up latinos, especially Cubans in Florida who have been moving over to the left more and more.

What I am asking you is, if Obama was a white Democratic President, and the same handshake occurred, do you think the backlash from the right would not occur?

I have no doubts that seeing a minority President take office scared the shyt out of knuckle-draggers across the country. I have no doubts that his race has played a factor in a lot of comments, politics and right wing media. What I am saying is that in this case, I don't think that it applies.

Political smearing, fake outrage, and political witch hunts didn't begin with Obama's Presidency breh. Republicans are ruthless for these tactics, even among themselves. Matter of fact, they tried to pin a suicide as a murder on the last moderate Republican President and the first lady in the 90s. Spent years dragging his name in the mud, using a murder investigation as a means to dig up any and every personal detail that "leaked" to the press.

This isn't new.

Im not suggesting that manufacturing, pushing, pedaling, and marketing faux-outrage over a D president was invented during the Obama admin, and I do understand where motivations lie in terms of intended outcomes. Im just analyzing the present day character of right wing outrage, which is far different than anything we've ever experienced.

Again, I believe you're referencing the Vince Foster "scandal", which was a unique one --- Obama shaking the hand of a controversial leader is far from unique. You would have a stronger point if the right, and others, werent obsessed with connecting Obama to terrorism, communism, socialism and the like from day one. You invoke other past white democrat presidents....do you think they would insinuate a fist bump as a "terrorist fist jab" if Obama and his wife were white?

You dont think the right is on a constant crusade to locate racial anxieties to exploit? Really? What are you arguing here?

the main reason is that medical school is no joke, and the chances of you actually being able to practice in the US is tiny

i got peoples that went to school in the caribbean and there are horror stories with that, going to cuba is just 10x worse
