Please. All he did is continue a strategy that was laid out back in th 50s. It's not like he came up with an innovative plan to defeat the Soviets.

Yeah, the USSR fate was sealed before Reagan even entered office. Gorbachev already knew they were unsustainable. He implemented the glasnost and perestroika reforms to try and ease the fall. There was a trilateral commission meeting (no tinfoil) sometime in the 70's where all the world leaders discussed trying to shape the post-Cold War world because the writing was on the wall that the USSR was

Reagan didn't do shyt but cripple the budget creating a useless permanent military-industrial largesse and say some catchy shyt about tearing down walls and evil empires.

But Presidents always get credit for being in the right place in the right time. Reagan and Clinton were the luckiest.

Actually this got me thinking, how come conservatives never count 9/11 against Bush ? This has been their M.O. since the 04 election. They constantly preach how Bush and the Republican party keep America safe. Yet the largest terrorist attack on US soil happened under his watch. It wasn't like they didn't have ample intelligence indicating an attack was imminent. How come to conservatives, 9/11 was just a practice run lol.

In all honesty, none of this countries problems can be placed at the feet of one president/ administration. Partisans will argue that Bush dropped the ball on the economy and 9/11. In reality, Bush inherited both of those situations. Regardless of whether you think 9/11 was an inside job or whatever, the towers were hit in the early 90's. We knew that was intended target. Clinton had ample opportunity to go after Osama and he helped fuel the economic bubble that burst under Bush's watch. Reagan & Bush Sr. created and trained much of the extremism were fighting today in Afghanistan.

I don't think Obama is the worst, they've all been equally bad except Carter. Carter gets a bad rap for not being an oil addicted warmonger. And Reagan became a saint for kicking the military and prison industrial complexes into overdrive while destroying the middle class (and as much as he sucked, he wasn't alone in making that happen).

agreed to a certain extent. however, this needs more color than the simplicity you're using the broad brush with though. obama hasn't used/abused executive orders anymore than his predecessors. it seems that may be the case, but that's more primarily due to the gop pledge to be obstructionist and stall out any policy decision regardless of the impact to the public at large. he's had to resort to executive decisions to counteract the gop pledge.



partially accurate, but childishly simplistic. there are competing interests at the corporate level and how they lobby political leadership. they don't all have the same goals. for example, if it were up to some corporate interest... favorable deregulation would continue...tax breaks for the rich and corporations would be deeper... taxes on the middle class and poor would be higher...immigration reform would either be pushed under the rug or mass deportations...privatization would trump oversight or adherence to policy. you obviously don't tune into how some state and local gov leadership pander to corporate interest and how this affects the constituency. the people in power can actually improve or decline standard of living for certain parts of the constituency.

You gave no idea what I tune into. Youre simply not talking about the same things as I am here. At the end of the day the president is not supposed to be a legislative actor.

Obama's party had control and wasted it - but this is not a partisan discussion so I wont go into that. In every way that matters Obama is a continuation of bush. I dont think tax and spend can solve anything.

I'm not a fan of his policies because I am more right than anything but he has nothing to do with people's live and gainable employment.

He has no control over 16% unemployment amongst blacks and 50% of underemployment for young adults. Maybe when he got out they'll free up some money.

Look at KilPatrick in detroit - people want someone to worship or direct their hate at and dont want to face the real issues.

I'm no Obama supporter, his presidency has been god awful but a lot of that is due to republican stubbornness to work with him..Regardless a big part of his campaign was bipartisanship though and he never delivered that...

That said no president since WWII has done more to fukk this country up than George W Bush...

CAC's were so disappointed in Bush and the republicans that they voted a black man with no experience into the oval office...

I think Obama did a good job considering all the bullshyt he inherited. I think that people are so disillusioned that they have a disdain for the whoever the president is. It's worse because Obama is Black. As Obama's presidency passes and leaves the our mindset, we can look at his presidency more objectively.
