What do you base this on breh? Jews from all around Europe (a whole continent) were killed. And the Nazis were working hand in hand with local admnistrations who set up files on the Jews quite early. Understand also that the 6 million figure is in total, not only in the camps. And not only Jews were killed in the camps : estimates vary from 11 to 17 millions total killed in the camps (that includes political prisonners, handicapped people, gays, Gypsies, prisoners from the Eastern Front -Western non-Jews were treated better-, etc).
I mean the USSR alone had more than 20 million dead during the conflict (more than 10 million civilians).

That being said, nothing justifies paying reparations TO THIS DAY. And I don't believe the US should be paying either, Germany and other European countries have been paying up for years.
