future's warbling that keef and french montana completely adopted themselves and b*stardized, you can hear it in migos music too
nicki has been a major player in integrating them in her own music
kendrick's ktt dubbed "alien voice"
kanye screaming
chance the rapper's sudden bursts into song and endless array of unique adlibs
what everyone originally labeled schoolboy q's "charisma" (which has since vanished as he attempts to becoming more of a finished product)
danny brown's trademark croak

it leads to people labeling artists and unqiue and being able to foster their own rap style. presenting a unique aesthetic is THE most important thing a rapper can do in 2013. by fostering these unquie rap styles these new rappers set themselves apart from the older generation's more traditional structure

part of this is wayne influence, part of this is natural evolution as people search for new things to do

who else did i miss? how do you value it?

for me it adds a certain level of excitement to the music, for someone who has been listening to the genre intently for so many years it's nice to be surprised

what's your take on this recent phenomenon?

it's just crazy to me how this is EVERYWHERE now. i'd honestly say it's more important then the actual bars as an appeal.

That's what makes folks like Kendrick and Chance unique artists though, and why I love them so much. Sing-song rapping isn't new tho, Cee-lo, that dude from Pharcyde and others have done it too.

Rap is in a good place these days I feel. These vocal inflections are ok and much better than terrible punchlines

:pacspit: @ all you nikkas who bashed the "accents" on relapse only to turn around on some

:ohlawd: The vocal inflection aesthetics!

It's great when it's called for, mostly for character work and shyt like that, IE "gimmie the loot"...I don't see how this has become the new "wave" though, if people are more so checking for what kind of funny voices you're doing than what you are actually saying I think it's a problem.

And Meek and Big Sean's random high pitch at the end of bars

Killa Tay would like to have a word with them...

I'd say it's definitely more appealing. It's part of the reason someone like Chance is much more entertaining to me than Cole. His enthusiasm is laughable.

Delivery has become much more significant to me than lyrics.

I'd much rather have weird ass unique styles then 15 rappers sounding exactly the same. Drake was right, everything was sounding like drake featuring drake.. (Or insert any popular song rapper)

These new rappers show just how nice, and unique hip hop is

This new 2013 variety sound is looking nice
