That trend continued today, as Rondo guest-hosted ESPN’s “Numbers Don’t Lie” program with Jemele Hill.

Rondo spoke on a wide-range of topics during the half-hour show, including Carmelo Anthony’s options in free agency this summer. After acknowledging the Chicago Bulls would be a strong fit for the All-Star forward, Rondo made his case Boston could be another option as well.

“You never know what Danny [Ainge] is capable of doing," Rondo said. "I can’t tell you too much. We want to be contenders as well next year. We don't plan on being down for too long. I think Danny has a lot of wiggle room with what he's done the last couple years with the draft so I'm looking forward to what's going to happen so hopefully [Carmelo] doesn't go to Chicago."

Rondo continued: "After we try to get Melo, or that additional piece, then who knows? The sky's the limit. I play to try to win a championship every year. And with Melo I think it's very possible.”

It was funny because when he was asked if he'd be disappointed if they didn't get Love... i'm paraphrasing but he said "No, I can't speak out against my teammates or my coach"

When they brought up Melo, his eyes lit up and he said that adding somebody like Melo, "sky is the limit!"

So basically the news story for today is that if the Celtics can't get Love, they'll look into trading Rondo and Jeff Green

Now before anybody says that Jeff Green has no value, it appears as if they've already got an offer that they would take for Green if they decide to go in this direction

For Rondo? The Lakers are intriguing with the #7 pick but there would need to be more and they don't have anymore... Kings are interesting with the #8 pick, Ben McLemore, and hopefully a future first round pick

Celtics waiting game is labor of Love | Boston Herald
If the Celtics cannot get Love, they are planning to continue with the longer and more methodical rebuilding process, a process that would likely see Rajon Rondo traded. (An NBA source said they would also have a taker for Jeff Green if they chose to move him.)

So far, according to a source, they have offered the Nos. 6 and 17 picks in this year’s draft, Kelly Olynyk and one of their own future No. 1 picks. They also own two more first-rounders from the Nets and one from the Clippers after this season, and the Celts are said to be certainly willing to discuss different combinations of their assets.

This team is so far away from competing and I absolutely do NOT want to sign Bradley to big money long term. We desperately need a big man to protect the rim and shooters on the wing. I'd like to keep our BK picks much further down the line to infuse talent once we are done rebuilding (hopefully)

Dream scenario:
Trade Sully/6th pick/near future BK pick or LAC pick and try to get rid Gerald Wallace in a Love deal.
Draft James Young/Hairston/Levine at #17
Houston is going to try and clear cap so if they get desperate trading Asik for our trade exemption might be possible

If we don't get Love I'd do a full rebuild and hope we can get a Jrue Holiday type return for Rondo :sadcam:

With a mix of experienced pros, first-round picks, and free agents looking to impress, the Boston Celtics summer league squad should be competitive.

One week before the team debuts in the Orlando summer league, the Boston Herald's Mark Murphy revealed the roster. As expected, first-round picks Marcus Smart and James Young will make their professional debuts; returners Kelly Olynyk, Chris Babb, Phil Pressey and Chris Johnson will all play; and 2013 second-round pick Colton Iverson, who spent the past season in Turkey, will join them. The plan currently calls for Jared Sullinger to work out, but not play, in Florida.

The expected roster follows.

Kelly Olynyk (F/C, Celtics)
Chris Babb (G, Celtics)
Phil Pressey (G, Celtics)
Chris Johnson (G, Celtics)
Marcus Smart (G, No. 6 pick)
James Young (G/F, No. 17 pick)
Colton Iverson (C, Besiktas [Turkey])
Daniel Coursey (C, Mercer)
Mike Moser (F, Oregon)
O.D. Anosike (C, Siena)
Dairis Bertans (G, Bilbao [Spain])
Devin Oliver (F, Dayton)
Edwin Jackson (G, Villeurbanne [France])

The Celtics open against the Heat on July 5.

I think if you can get Bradley back for 6 years 24 million (which is what they offered him last offseason) then you bring him back regardless of whether he's in the long term plans or not. He's young and could be an asset... if there's a good sign and trade option, then I wouldn't be against that either

I'm not sure Avery Bradley is a starter on a contending team... But he could be a really good option off the bench

These next few months will be interesting to see what happens. I don't know if we should trade for Love and then have him burn us. Maybe we should keep our picks and then try to get him in free agency next year. I'm hoping the Sixers make the playoffs next year, that way we'll have 3 first round picks in 2015. If the Clippers some how screw the pooch and have a mediocre season next year :banderas:. Nets can win next year and suck it from 2016-18.

2014 #6 and #17 picks
2015 possibly 3 first rounders
2016 ours and Nets pick
2017 option to swap picks with Nets
2018 ours and Nets pick

We also got that 10 mil trade exception to play with.

You can forget that!

Bradley is NOT a $4 million dollar player. He'll be looking to a $7-8 Million per year Deal if you ask me. Jeff Green coming off heart surgery got a 4 year $36 Million dollar deal a few years back. Bradley worth more than $4 per year.

I fukked up...

4 years 24 million, 6 million per year...

Bradley turned that offer down last offseason, but due to his injury problems over the past year, I don't think his value went up.

If you can get him for 6 million per year, I wouldn't be against holding onto him cause it's a decent value at his age and he can always be moved later. If it's for a penny more than that, you sign and trade him and try to get some kind of pick or young player back.

Celtics should trade Rondo to the Rockets for a sign & trade on Chandler Parsons and picks and start this youth movement. Hopefully we already have a Franchise cornerstone in Marcus Smart and a Solid Supporting cast players in Avery Bradley, James Young and Jared Sullinger. Just Trade Rondo and hope for the #1 to get Jahlil Okafor or a top 3 Prospect next season and continue building from there.

All the picks along with Maybe (Parsons/Okafor), Smart, Sully, Bradley, Young and Olynyk its a good start. Just gotta wait till contracts of Wallace/Green/Bass expire to have some cap space and see if we can make a Run at Kevin Durant in 2016. For now just start putting the pieces together and hope for the best.

If we trade Rondo without also tossing in Wallace's contract Im gonna be pissed

fukk that fakkit.

Danny needs to get that contract off our team this season, that's very important.

I'm on the fence about trading Rondo... I do think Smart and Rondo can play together, and having two ball handling guards that can create seems to be the future of the league now anyways.

I'm not completely against trading Rondo... but I don't want to pay Chandler Parsons 10 million a year

Id love to keep Rondo but I think Danny needs to decide soon if we're truly rebuilding or just adding pieces to make things work. If we're rebuilding, see ya later Rondo.
