The only thing that would make sense if they had a no doubt replacement waiting in the wings like Cowher or something... but for Josh McDaniels?

Or maybe they think they can get in late on O'Brien or even have a shot at Shaw (almost no chance IMO)....other than that I got nothing.

If he does then Lions desperatley need to look for a strong WR2...Stafford is mediocre but he's even worse when Calvin Johnson is not 100%.

Sad thing is whether next year or the year after some team will give this bum shanahan another gig even though he hasn't done anything since 1998.

Leslie Frazier got a raw deal, injuries and 3 diff qbs and got axed

Eh, it depends.

Usually the gm picks the QB though.
