bortles will be starting very quickly this season. not saying he will be great, but hes by far the best option on the jags, and they arent all that far away from actually competing for a playoff spot in the afc

Even if Bortles is the best option to win games this year, they need to keep him on the bench. Like you say the Jags are not that far away from competing for a playoff spot. They need sit Bortles this year, and get one last top 10 pick this year. Work toward next year to make the jump to a playoff team.

The Jags will have Lee and ARob making the second year jump, and a chance to build on the Oline and on the D through the draft, and a shyt load of cap space to make moves in FA. Slow and steady, no need to rush.

The Jags really have a lot going for them, good coach and good ownership, no need to rush.

If he's the best option you can't keep him on the bench tho man. You letting the current team down, Veterans ain't gonna like that. They'll get Blackmon back next year right? and you can draft well no matter where you pick in the NFL.

Players learn best from taking reps with the first team. The Jags do themselves and Bortles a disservice in benching him. They deprive him of the necessary reps he needs to develop. Bortles should start and the Jags pick wherever they pick. He's a rookie so the likelihood is that the team won't win too many games with him under center.

Jags have drafted well under Cadwell tho. Bortles is not going to be a major improvement over Henne at this point in time IMHO. Your looking at maybe a 1 2 game swing in the W column(is that really worth it?). Bradley can keep the team inline.

Best to go with Henne, try to stay in that 7 win range. Then maybe start Bortles week 15 16. Look to next year..
