  • rome Iginla had 12 consecutive non-lockout-shortened 30-goal seasons. TWELVE. CONSECUTIVE. He became only the seventh player in NHL history to have it for that many consecutive seasons. Kane had 30 goals just twice in his career so far. Toews’ highest points in a season is just 76.
  • Iginla has 91 more career goals than both Kane and Toews combined.
  • Iginla became just the 20th player in NHL history to reach 600 goals. He’s now 16th in goals in players of all time. He’s just eight goals from being 15th overall.
  • He is second for all-time goals in players who are active (right after Jaromir Jagr, of course).
  • He’s third in active players for all-time points. Ahead of him is, again, Jagr and another snub, Joe Thornton.
  • In a league that is known as “the white man’s sport”, he was the first black player to be featured on the EA Sports NHL cover of NHL 03.
  • He was the first black-Canadian captain of any NHL team.
  • Played in six all-star games.
  • Has two Olympic gold medals.
  • Has won the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy twice in his career (leading goal scorer for that season).
  • Led his team to the cup finals in 2004 where he basically had the cup stolen from him (yes it was stolen. If you’re not still mad about 2004, are you really even a true Flames fan?).
  • Won the Art Ross Trophy once in his career (leading point scorer).
That's why I stopped watching NHL :scust:

What a time to be alive

brehs, I've been watching hockey on tv and been checking live games of our local minor minor league hockey team. Pretty exciting sport, that I want to get into full time.

Any suggestions for a team? What is a good middle of the pack team to pick?

I was going to go with Chicago; but didn't want to come off wrong

I've watched a couple San Jose Sharks matches, But I can't pick them cause they rock teal green and I hate that color

Help and bless me, brehs

You'd fit right in with the Hawks fan. None of them have been hockey fans very long.

:sadcam:

That's why I'm skeptical cause I know they won ships not in the far distance.

But I took dudes suggestion to find out my minor leagues affiliation and they WERE affiliated with the Hawks and Maple Leafs

" I see your wearing blackhawks gear eh? How long you been a fan eh?

What names from 88 should I throw out?

Laine/Matthews/McDavid are the new starts, but Ovi aint done. Neither is Sid. She is still has a few more years of dominance in her.

There is a difference between "New stars" and face of the league. My question is are these pups the faces of NHL? Making the kid captain of the all star team?:what:

If McDavid isnt the best player in the league this year, he will be next year. Of all the "Next Gretzkys" he's actually worthy of the the title.

P.K trying to becoming a megastar and throwing shots at the League for being incompetent :ooh:
LOS ANGELES – The room was filled with NHL players wearing all-star game branded warm-up gear. Gray, drab long-sleeve shirts, with the Los Angeles event’s logo.

As he walked over to NHL Network’s set for an appearance, a veteran Montreal-based reporter standing nearby uttered, “He doesn’t even look like a hockey player anymore.”
(:francis::martin::aicmon: thank goodness he's away from that ungrateful ass city and media)

That Subban has been as much a personal brand as he’s been an NHL player – 296 points in 468 games as a defenseman, winning the Norris Trophy in 2013 – isn’t breaking news. His logo appears on hockey gear. His admirable charity work hasn’t been what you’d call “subtle.” He’s done television, he’s done comedy. He’s everything hockey fans wish some of these painfully humble “logo on the front not the name on he back!” types could be, to hype the sport; and he’s everything traditionalists don’t want from NHL players, and particularly loathe in modern athletes.

The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news that Subban has signed with talent agency WME. Specifically, he hopes to work with Jill Smoller, the star agent that reps athletes like Serena Williams and Genie Bouchard.

“WME is such a successful organization. You look at the athletes they represent, and they’re great,” said Subban. “I have a great relationship with Maverick Carter, who represents LeBron James. He had suggested Jill Smoller to me, and she has a long lost of athletes that she’s worked with in her career, including Serena Williams. She knows what she’s doing.”
:blessed:

So what’s the end result? Movies?

“Do I want to be in movies? I mean, if there was a movie about me, I would like Denzel to play me,” he said, with a laugh. ‘It’s about building relationships. As an athlete, you want to build as many positive relationships as you can when you’re playing.”

Was this deal possible for Subban without being traded to a U.S. team? “Not necessarily,” he said. “I think you add pieces to your team that can help in different ways, and that’s a piece I didn’t have.”

There’s only one P.K. Subban, as much as P.K. Subban wishes his peers could have their stars shine just as brightly.

In the past, Subban has blamed the NHL for the lack of true star-power in hockey, players who enter the pop culture zeitgeist and get featured on ESPN.

There’s this prevailing notion in hockey that if you make a big deal out of your goals or you’re outgoing, you’re not a leader, Subban says, sounding exasperated—and that just doesn’t make sense to him. “Bobby Orr didn’t celebrate because that’s the way he was—he just didn’t feel the need to. Great. Tiger Williams used to go down the ice sitting on his stick. That doesn’t mean he’s a bad guy—that means he gets excited. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

To Subban’s mind, hockey is the one pro sport that eats its own. If you listen to basketball coverage, he says, 90 percent of what they’ll say about the game’s biggest stars is positive, but hockey just isn’t like that—for him or anyone else. “Even Sidney Crosby—look at all the heat he’s been taking. This guy’s the best player in the world, and he’s getting the heat he’s been getting? Really?”

I'm glad PK understand that your brand is just as important as your skill on the playing field, more of these NHL players need to understand that you gotta be about yourself because these teams only care about themselves and their money. Also, players need to let loose and play the game to the best, they get way too obsessed with "system' or playing the right way" and all this cliche, robotic nonsense. Hope this leads to more players breaking out of their shells and showing personality,
