@Swagnificent Dobbs looks waaaaay more Vince Young (best case scenario) than Randall Cunningham :patrice:

Solid talent, but I'm not seeing a future star though.

Vince Young would have been better than Cunningham if he was mature and took the mental part of the game seriously. Don't gotta worry about that with Dobbs. He's a student of the game. He'll get the most out of his talent.

Also this is just step 1 in the process. I was encouraged by tonight because he faced his adversity EARLY. Better gauge for what type of player he is than what we saw from Trubisky or Kizer who just played the second and third string guys and didn't face much in the way of adversity.

Dobbs will be fine. He's mentally built for this.

No questions about his mental toughness. Although he did look shook early. As I said before two of those 3rd downs should have been delay of games.

The issue is his accuracy and processing. I don't care about ints as long as you process stuff quickly.

Right now its too fast for him. Thats not a problem as he has time to grow like all young QBs. However, unless Jones is seriously injured I expect Dobbs start the season as 3rd string. He may be good in time, but I don't see Dak or Russell Wilson like readiness. Not yet.

Sidenote: Randall had far greater throwing talent than VY. I say that as a huge VY fan, but sometimes his passes flutter from him. Just like a few of Dobbs passes did today.

That's fair. But you gotta consider the Steelers didnt make it easy for him. They did little to accentuate his STRENGTHS. No runs were called. As you saw he got settled after that scramble for a first down. Also they didn't boot leg him a lot to give him easy half field reads. Also they had him throwing a lot from under center. Compare that to Watson and Trubisky who mainly threw from the shotgun.

Not saying you are wrong that he might not be ready right now. But if he was called on to play, he could perform if they babied him a little. RG3 ripped apart the league as a rookie with limited plays. Same with Russell Wilson as a rookie.

If Dobbs played in the regular season he wouldn't be deer in the headlights all game like he was at the start. He'll be fine.
