Davis is going to the Lakers. Klutch and the NBA worked a backdoor deal with the Pels so that Davis can walk to the Lakers without destroying that team.

This is the most logical conspiracy theory that would explain this.

I refuse to believe the NBA has ever left the lottery to chance. The placement of their stars effects the visibility of the league too much.

I think it's fixed so that LA has another high pick to include in an AD trade. Then the Lakers get AD and NO can draft Zion and Barrett and have the whole "teamed at Duke" connection to sell.
