They keep thinking that Obama meant that this country progressed

This is why progressives are brain dead to actual politics in this country. They want everything NOW without realizing that that has never happened in this country unless you are like the GOP and are willing to break the rules to accomplish your goals.

Wait til Ginsburg croaks...then they'll realize how important it was for Hillary Clinton to have won that election in 2016
Respectfully fam, you’re reaching the point where it’s clear that you are just yelling into the air and don’t actually study politics. Nothing you’re saying is true. HRC lost because Obama voters—many of whom were black people in Wayne County in Michigan and Milwaukee in Wisconsin—didn’t want to vote for her. You trying to spin this into some progressive purity politics shyt shows that you might need to take a break and read actual election breakdowns of 2016. You know how tiny a sliver of the electorate even votes in primaries? They are disproportionately more affluent than your regular voter. I have respect for you but I cannot allow you to spread this hysterical disinformation. You straight up like a TV hack right now and that’s not been you historically.

Apps almost always never work right when they go live, even after q&a...it is what it is. Have you ever been part of an app build for a business, it's a shyt show, hands down one of the projects I hate working on most - finding bugs in apps is tricky because you don't know until you know.
2020 is not the time for some “you don’t know until you know” stuff my dude. The optics are terrible

Any official word on what happened with this app?

It doesn't take a day to recount votes.

So are the votes lost?

Was the application hacked?

Does the DNC have a Twitter handle? Have they put anything out there?

I can't fathom how any professional outfit can go this long without a statement, so I assume I missed it.

This is exactly my point. It would be one thing if they did trials, but they didn’t. I’m not sure why you’re defending the DNC for advocating something that they didn’t have enough time to test. It was supposed to make things easier and be clear - Perez is a Latino for NYC - and as an east coast dude I want him to do well. They made the wrong call here and he should just explain the thought process and say they made the wrong call. I’m not saying to fire him or anything.

you can have all the "optics" discussions you want, it's irrational to blame them for responding to complaints in 2016 with something new when if the OG process would've been allowed to live, they'd be fine. there's also no way to test the app at the scale it was implemented at, that's the issue with apps when you're not someone like facebook or google who can QA shyt with 1M users and that still be less than 2% of their user base.

This is exactly my point. It would be one thing if they did trials, but they didn’t. I’m not sure why you’re defending the DNC for advocating something that they didn’t have enough time to test. is there evidence the app wasn't tested? and i'm not defending the DNC as much as defending the point that apps, outside of select companies, can rarely be tested at a scale that reveals all (critical) bugs, as someone who has shipped broken apps after 6+ months of dev, testing and QA, i can't help but look at it objectively, that's just the part of app building that sucks.

The full statement by Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price can be read below.

Last night, more than 1,600 precinct caucuses gathered across the state of Iowa and at satellite caucuses around the world to demonstrate our shared values and goal of taking back the White House. The many volunteers running caucus sites, new voters registering as Democrats, and neighbors talking to each other about the future of our country demonstrated the strength of our party.

We have every indication that our systems were secure and there was not a cyber security intrusion. In preparation for the caucuses, our systems were tested by independent cybersecurity consultants.

As precinct caucus results started coming in, the IDP ran them through an accuracy and quality check. It became clear that there were inconsistencies with the reports. The underlying cause of these inconsistencies was not immediately clear, and required investigation, which took time.

As this investigation unfolded, IDP staff activated pre-planned backup measures and entered data manually. This took longer than expected.

As part of our investigation, we determined with certainty that the underlying data collected via the app was sound. While the app was recording data accurately, it was reporting out only partial data. We have determined that this was due to a coding issue in the reporting system. This issue was identified and fixed. The application’s reporting issue did not impact the ability of precinct chairs to report data accurately.

Because of the required paper documentation, we have been able to verify that the data recorded in the app and used to calculate State Delegate Equivalents is valid and accurate. Precinct level results are still being reported to the IDP. While our plan is to release results as soon as possible today, our ultimate goal is to ensure that the integrity and accuracy of the process continues to be upheld.
