Boseman lost for two reasons
The awards season was long as hell this year , so all the momentum towards him winning started to waiver as the season went along.
Ma Rainey was an ok movie if it was a stronger movie both Davis and Boseman would’ve won hands down

Boseman lost because the Academy cannot STAND giving black actors leading Awards.

Only FOUR black men in the HISTORY of the Oscars have won Best Leading Actor. FOUR!

wasn't about who won, it was about the format. when they did picture before the acting awards, everyone watching assumed they knew why.

I haven't seen any of these movies, i had no rooting interest, but it just seemed obvious they'd end on a tribute to the posthumous guy
