Packers loss and lost Parsons for the year. Watson hurt again. They have tougher road with Bears and Ravens coming up than us. NFC West isn’t cooperating they all keep winning. So we have to knock Bears or Packers out. GB tie makes their head to head with Lions pointless. Don’t have total confidence they win next 3 games though.

The Packers would have to lose 2 of their last 3. The Bears would have to lose 2 of their last 3 including the Lions game.

Doesn't seem likely and TBH The Lions have mostly lost to the good teams they've played. The defense is too beat up. Even if they made the playoffs it seems doubtful they'd even make it past the wildcard round.

I stayed from this thread cuz after I while I expected this outcome.

Holmes has been great but he deserves an F for not addressing the pass rush.

Secondary injuries are killing us once again. Nothing can be done about that. It's football. He made some great signings to improve the depth in the secondary.

But damn the pass rush outside of Hutchinson is non existent.

This might be as far as this iteration of the team goes because of having to pay guys every year. The only hope is the draft can solve this. The defense is always an issue. It's a collection of guys who every year different key players are always getting hurt.

Comes down to Holmes not going all in when guys were on cheaper deals. A dominant defense would have pushed this team into a Superbowl winner.

Brad Holmes got fat and sassy after them first couple drafts. He operating like he was gonna do that every year which is impossible.

I think we need figure out how to conserve the players bodies. Whoever the Sports medicine doc is on Woodward sports is predicted the injuries last year.

The lions brag about practicing hard and being physical but they need to save that shyt for game day.

A favorite of ours (Hendricks) was injured this season. Had we swung for the fences and trade multiple picks for him we’d have questions about how he’s going to perform in 2026 and we’d be short picks.

What they should be doing is a case study on how the eagles remain healthy and try to integrate that into this franchise. I don’t think we’re unlucky. I think we take unnecessary risk when it matters least.

If lions win out they should still make playoffs. Bears will lose one if not both of their next two games.

Just get in and they have a chance. Lions offense is still elite. They can outscore alot of teams. Rams can just keep up and have a better defense. Even though they lost to Packers and Eagles Im not scared if im the Lions in a rematch. Like our matchup with Bears and 49ers too.

If they lose to Steelers though they need to test out young oline for next year.

LG Mahogoney
C Ratledge
RG Frazier

Cant get on Holmes too much honestly. Team just devastated by injuries. They probably win yesterday with Branch, Kerby, Arnold in there. But the 2024 draft is a black hole. CB was the critical need. Drafted two and neither can stay healthy. Rakestraw injury was freak accident apparently. Still holding out hope he can play. Him and Arnold have shoulder injuries not any kind of leg injury. Muhammad gave us great production from other end spot this year. Problem is interior oline. Alim doesn’t look like same player. Hopefully he looks better second year back from ACL.

I think coaching is the reason why the lions don’t have a couple more wins and clinging to playoff hopes. If Campbell makes common sense coaching decisions we have 10 wins right now. Also hiring a bad OC is on him

It's not crazy at all to think the Bears lose to the Packers and Niners. The clearest path is week 18 being us at Chicago playing to get in, likely as the 7th seed. Odds are we'd be playing the Packers in the playoffs. Without Parsons. So no, I'm not gonna write us off yet.

For next year I need somebody in Allen Park to bring up Myles Garrett. Not for a trade, which would be ridiculous. For his performance this year vs previous years; 14 sacks in 2023 and 2024, then 21.5+ sacks this year. Why? Because Cleveland went out and drafted the best pass rushing DT in the draft (Mason Graham). Then they brought in Maliek Collins, another good pass rushing DT. And the result has been that QBs have nowhere to escape to and Garrett cleans up the sacks. They invested in Garrett. It's time for Detroit to do the same with Hutch. DJ Reader is probably gone after this season. I assume the Davenport experiment will be over. Paschal is probably gone too. Levi is probably gone. It is time to get serious about pass rush. Our d-line was healthy yesterday and got CLOWNED. Pushed around. Get another pass rusher at edge. It's also time to move on from relying on NTs who don't rush the passer (Reader); whether that means re-signing Roy Lopez as the NT or changing the scheme so we don't use an NT, either way is fine with me.

Garrett plays around 75-80% of snaps each game. Hutch plays 90%+. It's not sustainable and it's time for drastic change.

Thinking about the draft,..I need to see a shift in how we approach the depth chart. Holmes has been great overall but my biggest issue is how he gives his guys so much runway to figure it out. We can’t afford to wait and see if guys take another step. Paschal was basically handed the starting edge spot opposite of Hutch for a couple years because we didn’t draft or sign real competition. Levi spent years injured and we didn’t draft another DT high until this year.

Has this approach worked for other guys? Sure. Jamo, Campbell, Barnes, and Alim come to mind. But our glaring holes on the d-line are the product of dithering and hoping. That has to end. If that means drafting a CB in the first couple rounds? So be it. I like Terrion but when can’t be handed a starting job. Nor can we just assume Rakestraw will be our nickel.

This runway extends to players who ARE playing great too. Why don’t we have another drafted TE on the roster? Why do we only have two drafted safeties? Yes we’re talking about three great players who have made All Pro and Pro Bowls. But the lack of drafted depth behind them is weird when we keep lighting late round picks on fire instead of drafting young guys. We have a lot of picks in this upcoming draft. It’s time to refresh this roster.

Bears have to be one of the most fortunate teams in recent history. Literally everything has broke their way this year. Everytime I watch them they are so underwhelming

So if either Packers or Bears lose another Game and Lions win out we are in playoffs.

Green Bay losing wasn't the best for the Lions playoffs hopes.

It wasn’t but Lions aren’t eliminated yet. 49ers still fighting for division so they’ll be tough at home next week vs Bears. Ravens still fighting for their division. A healthier Lamar against GB without Parsons and possibly without Love. Lions definitely have the easiest remaining schedule.
