Some of yall are getting ahead of yourselves. Let the team come together first before ranking them. We still don't know how things will play out but the bones of what they have are solid.

Agreed. Like are people arguing we're gonna lose 5 people and not replace them in any form or fashion?

Am I happy about free agency so far? No. We got our center, the biggest thing we needed to do. Outside of that it's been quiet to put it lightly. But free agency doesn't end tomorrow. The process of ongoing, there are good players out there still...I'll wait. I need to see a safety and edge rusher signed. And I'd imagine we might sign another tackle because the guy we picked up isn't a real starter quality guy (I assume he's the Dan Skipper replacement). I don't want to go into the draft knowing we're getting a tackle at 17. Even though that's likely no matter what, given the quality of tackles is high this year, we shouldn't be forced to do it.

Edge: Cam Jordan, AJ Epenesa, Hasaan Reddikk
Safety: Geno Stone

Couple guys signed yesterday who seemed like clear upgrades. We'll see what happens. We're building towards a scenario where Holmes has to knock the draft out the park. Which he's more than capable of doing when not reaching on development guys. Speaking of which...failing on those development picks is a big reason this offseason feels so uncomfortable. If Brodric Martin was even a replacement level NT he'd be the DJ Reader replacement. If Giovanni Manu was even a replacement level T we wouldn't be signing a Dan Skipper replacement. On the injury front, if Ennis Rakestraw wasn't perpetually injured since HIGH SCHOOL we'd have slot locked down.

Kyler Murry going to the Vikings changes a lot of things. All of a sudden I can't definitively say we're not the worst team in the division right now. Obviously that can change quickly, FA isn't over, draft hasn't happened etc. I think Cade Mays fixes a lot of the problems we had last season but we don't know what RT looks like now. A rookie? Sure I can buy a rookie balling out, especially someone like Blake Miller who will be there at 17. But it's still a risk.

Holmes definitely bargain shopping and getting all the old guys off the roster. Everyone near or over 30 is gone. Secondary might be set though. They have good depth. Maybe draft a developmental safety to be on safe side but Harper and Christian Izien should be able to fill in at safety until we know what Branch and Kerby are capable of next year. Arnold, Reed, Ya Sin outside. Rakestraw, Mccreary compete for nickle.

It would not shock me if they were ok with any of Manu, Frazier, Borom at RT

Edge seems to be bigger need. Faulk, Mesidor, TJ Parker all fit the mold of Edges lions tend to like

Give me TJ Parker rd one, Anthony Hill or Jacob Rodriguez in rd 2 to be Anzalone replacement.

Fans have turn on Holmes about resigning his guys :snoop: . Its such a stupid argument

He’s drafted and resigned pro-bowlers and All pros. Only Alim may have been reupped too early and too much but he was having monster season before the ACL injury. Sewell, Hutch, Amon Ra, Goff, Kerby all earned to be paid at top of their positions. Campbell and Gibbs will also be reup at record deals. Jamo deal looks great considering what someone like Pierce just got in Indy. Holmes draft run for 3 years was crazy. Only truly questionable resigning may have been Barnes, he’s definitely overpayed for his production. Laporta and Branch injuries probably workout in lions favor financially. Have confidence that Arnold, Tyleik, Ratledge, Teslaa will all be good players too

Fans forget who got the Lions where they are. I’m gonna give Holmes the benefit of the doubt.

People parrot radio talking points and run with them. I remember when the Lions were praised for signing their guys early. That's what you're supposed to do because you lock in savings VS paying more later. And I'll still defend the Barnes re-signing because it's clear they chose Barnes over Anzalone and I'm 100% fine with that.

Yesterday the Lions made some signings I like so I feel better, but there's still work to be done. Do I like the idea of shifting to a younger roster? Yea of course. But my issue is that if you're going to do that you need to bring in some dawgs to compliment the re-tooling. Maybe that still happens in the coming days, specifically at edge and safety. Another thing: the young guys gotta step up to make this work. Another step for Ratledge puts him in Pro Bowl territory for instance. If Tyleik can develop like Alim did from year 1 to 2 it changes this d-line. TeSlaa is legit. Terrion taking another step will be key. And while I wouldn't bet on it, if we get anything from Ennis and Manu it changes things too.

Speaking of safety....even accounting for this being a great draft at that position....the lack of urgency suggests to me that rumors about Kerby are overblown. Especially with a scheme like ours that heavily relies on safety play. I hope that's good news.

Muhammad is gone. He put up decent numbers at times. I hope there’s a plan cause they seem to be getting thinner defensively.
