Rather have Brogdon than Shamet.

All Shamet does is C&S threes, but now the Knicks have Jordan Clarkson for that. On the other hand Knicks don't have another playmaker to create offense other than Brunson.

Edit: Knicks deep this year though. Hope everyone stays healthy (especially Mitch), this could be another finals run.
We don’t need another injury prone backup. Their is a reason Brogdon done been passed around like a blunt in a college dorm room.

on where the Knicks stand after signing Malcolm Brogdon: "If the Knicks want to keep both Brogdon and Shamet, they will have to trade one of their own players to create the roster spot. Trading either Pacôme Dadiet or Miles McBride would clear enough cap space to sign both Shamet and Brogdon. (There are other combinations of players the Knicks could trade to create the space to add both veterans, but those two are being mentioned because it would be the most direct path for the Knicks to take if they wanted to keep both vets.) I’d be surprised if the Knicks made a move like that ahead of training camp. I’d assume that they let things play out in training camp/preseason before making decisions on final roster spots. It’s also worth pointing out that they have always held McBride in high regard and haven’t been receptive to any past trades involving the now 25-year-old. As things currently stand, the Knicks have enough room under the second apron to keep a veteran free agent like Shamet, Brogdon, or Garrison Matthews and to sign a rookie to a minimum deal. The rookie needs to have been drafted by the Knicks. So the plan heading into camp is for New York to sign Mohamed Diawara to that rookie deal. The Knicks have also had other veteran free agents in for workouts lately. Thomas Bryant, who played well against New York in the Eastern Conference Finals with Indiana, has been in New York for open gym workouts and really impressed the Knicks, per SNY league sources."

Shamet played some damn good defense in da pacers series and gave us some solid minutes when thibs finally gave him a chance.

I want Brogden but not at the expense of Sham.
Brogden just isnt reliable. I'll take em if we dont gotta give anything up. I'd rather just give Tyler some spare minutes

Off topic but I am not sure Shumpert sticks past his second contract in the modern NBA. He got on just before the shift in the league where outside of defensive centers, players at every position has to not be a liability as a shooter.

Like Hart is a damn Swiss Army knife type of player to compensate for the fact he isn’t a shooter.

The knicks sending him to the cavs when they did might have added a season or two to his career. Since at that point the league definitely expected some shooting out of its guards.

He's not wrong. Once you get labeled 3/D you gotta do all the dirty work

Marios quote at the end, sums it up perfectly
He’s entirely wrong, but that’s okay, because that’s the competitor in him thinking he could’ve been more than what he was. No different to the majority of role players thinking they could've been more than what their career defines them as.

The truth is, it doesn't matter where he was traded to, he was never a good enough ball-handler nor scorer to warrant a greater role and whatever team he was traded to would've quickly realized that.

People believe that Dadiet has more of an upside than any other the young Knicks, and also the case that they need more wings :manny:

Maybe he does, and they do. But if they're that thirsty for Brogdon's 36 games of availability, give up the project who may or may not amount to shyt, rather than a guy you're going to wish you still had when Brogdon inevitably gets injured.

But it looks like Kolek is the odd man out supposedly anyway
