Gonna be hard to get to this spot again. HCA in the ECF, OG healthy, Mitch healthy… Knicks needed to capitalize and they completely bottled G1 and ruined the season

The biggest issue is health, and the best way to deal with that is create enough depth to have some redundancy.

You see this happen all the time in every sport. It's easier for the FO to say the coach is the problem than to admit the roster is fundamentally flawed and needs restructuring. Thibs gone and someone else in is the immediate path forward, I'd bet the mortgage on it

Thibs is flawed as fukk and I wouldn’t be mad if they fired him too, but Thibs ain’t the issue with the defense.

The whole season the defense struggled, the offense struggled, and the lineup never meshed. In the playoffs they got over most those issues with more effort but he defensive issue is real. Other teams saw that series and know that if they do drop coverage they can attack KAT and if the Knicks switch start hunting for KAT or Brunson.

This FO has consistently made moves to improve and KAT has not meshed well.

You’re seeing two teams with 1 star scorer and a secondary scorer with nba quality get to the finals. Plus Tatum is out and the Celtics are about to burn the roster down. The Brunson/KAT pairing is more of a liability defensively than a weapon offensively.
