I'm looking into buying a smart speaker and really like what i'm seeing with the echo so at that price i'm leaning towards copping.

How is Google Home? I see it going for 100$ right now and it sounds good but not as developed as echo:patrice:what do you use it for? i'm worried google will stop supporting it after a couple of years.

The echo has the better overall environment right now, that is its supported by more 3rd party vendors

The Google Home is the better product in terms of hardware ( better on the eyes, louder speaker, better voice recognition, able to answer more questions)

I have my Google Home connected to my lights so I can tell it turn them on or off, dim it a certain percentage etc. I also use to order pizza, ubers. I use it a lot for mathematical calculations, ask random questions. It's really good at playing music or sending videos to your TV.

It's not functional just yet but they added the ability to text or call anyone in your contacts (the echo has this ability but the other person had to have the amazon app installed)

All I need is a tripod. I can almost guarantee any and every camera accessory except that will be on sale. :francis:

It actually is worth it.

The 2 day shipping is a great perk.
But so is the Amazon music.
And Amazon video.

Between Prime Video and Netflix you hardly even need cable tv.
That's true if you don't watch live sports. If someone does...then there is still a need for cable. Unfortunately.

sounds like Google Home is a better fit for what i want out of this (loud speaker, answer questions, connect to home appliances) but i'm more tied into the Amazon eco system and it's more developed so far. i do have a 25$ gift card so i might play with the echo and return it for the Google Home if i'm not satisfied:patrice:

The echo @ $90 is a great deal, there's a couple of sales going on right now where the Google Home is anywhere from $75 - - $100 also

Am deep in both ecosystem, I have Amazon dash buttons all over etc

The price and look of Google Home is what pushed me to it, but if the echo had been $99 when it came it out I would have gotten it instead

If you want you can just the echo Dot for $35 and give it a try, it has all the functionality of big echo except it's much smaller

i thought about this and was gonna wait until black friday to pick one up but when i saw the echo for 90$ i just felt like jumping on it. that's a great deal. a lot of reviews have the echo as the best smart speaker so i was pretty committed to picking it up already. props for the info tho.
